I've installed it. However, it has now taken over a strip 36 pixels high below the ribbon in Word 2010. I don't mind having it installed in case I want to use it, but I don't want it taking up so much screen real estate, and I can't see how to hide it.

Having read this thread on the google help, you can't hide it, so I'll uninstall it until they fix it.

To uninstall, http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Docs/thread?tid=0165e27160f4c275&hl=en says:

For most versions of Windows you can do the following:

Start -> Control Panel
Search for "Programs" or "Add or Remove Programs" and double click
Search for "Google Cloud Connect"
Right click and press "Uninstall"

Initially I tried to go through the Word | Options | Add Ins panel. This has a button to "Remove" the Cloud add in, but gives an error about not being an administrator.
