I have this on my mobile, and it works really well. Very quick too, even without 3G. Always handy when you're completely lost without your sat nav!

Business listings. Search for any business or category of interest.

Driving directions. Thanks to My Location, you don't even have to enter your starting point.

Transit & walking directions. Get routes and schedules to travel via subway, bus, or on foot.

Street View. View street-level imagery of businesses and turns in directions.

Traffic. Real-time traffic helps you find the fastest route.

Enterprise. BlackBerry administrators can deploy Maps for BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

link went to US site (.com) so the phone number section was foreign...

use http://www.google.co.uk/mobile/default/maps.html on your pc or: http://m.google.co.uk/maps?dc=gmm

note the m.google.

good spot though -nice to have the updated options.. i use google maps more than my actual sat nave feature.

cheers,

thanks for that, didn't realise i linked to the US site. I have amended the link now.

Cheers :)

will it cost you to use this sat nav on your mobile or can you only use it as part of an unlimited internet access package?
#4
it'll only cost you if you have to pay for your internet access from your service provider.

Otherwise all access is free. Most contracts now give email/internet access for free however.
#5
if you didn't have unlimited data then you could always just pre-prep the journey by viewing it over wifi or something before you go.... but if you don't have unlimited data then be careful!!

the manual link in the original text is still wrong as it doesn't have m.google in the text btw.

will this work on an ipod touch?

You'll have to excuse me for asking, and I'll probably be shouted down, but how the hell is this a deal? It's been available for ages and it's not the only app Google makes for mobiles - should I post YouTube and GMail too? How about other free apps like fring which give you free IM and free VOIP like Skype on any Symbian phone?

Seriously.
#10
Oh, the op also left out Latitude which tells you of other users who are close to you, which is a nifty feature (if a little of a privacy worry).

Indeed. This isn't something you previously had to pay for, it's always been free.

I wasn't aware of it before so thanks. theres no need to flame people for trying to make people aware of something free.
#13
cold - this isn't a deal!
#14
Luke warm as if it wasn't for this post I wouldn't have known of the update. Cheers.

Cracking deal! I've found another one - if you go to maps.google.co.uk you can actually see the same maps but on a much higher resolution screen and much more convenient to use too. And totally free!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are in the "freebie" section, not the "deal" section. This is free, therefore it is a freebie.

are you people insane.....its just a website with maps....if you have a GPS On your phone that the website would give you ur location. rubbish for use on blackberries..mostly..

its not a DEAL..

if you wanna use it instead of a SAT nav in a Car..you must be barking mad...not a cheapskate..

MyLocation seems new? Allows non-GPS to find approx location. So seems something new here. Usefull little application if you have free internet and forget to take your sat nav
