best thing it is free and you can choose to boot up jolicloud of windows at your choice

Jolicloud is built on top of Ubuntu Netbook Edition[7], and as with that Linux distribution, is tweaked for netbooks and other computers with limited disk storage, memory, and screen size.[8][9]

Jolicloud was designed for easy installation, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G modem support all included.[10] The operating system supports all the major netbooks, including models from Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, MSI, Samsung and Sony.[11] Jolicloud claims the OS supports 98% of netbooks with out-of-the-box compatibility.[12]

Version 1.0 of the operating system incorporates a user interface built primarily with HTML5 that includes an application launcher, a library of compatible applications with one-click installation and removal, a display of all machines associated with a user account, and a social activity stream that enables users to compare installed applications. The launcher displays only those applications supported in the library, but the identical configuration can be viewed from any machine running Jolicloud. Account management is available from any computer with an HTML5-compatible browser.[13][14][15] Jolicloud's HTML5 implementation is through Google's Chromium, which serves as middleware for Web rendering.[16]

been running this on my N130 and it works flawlessly, no drivers needed everything is just spot on, boot time is rapid too.
#3
How do I get the software ? clicked on download and this is all I get : jolicloud-1.0.iso.torrent
I've never used torrent before and really dont intend too , but I expected to download a file directly from the jolicloud site.
#4
Seems very basic - the windows installer doesn't have an option for custom partitioning or even installing to unmounted partitions.
Hopefully the ISO will be better...

If you click the 'JodiCloud for windows' button it downloads an exe you can install from within windows, and it lets you choose which to use (windows or jodicloud) each time the computer turns on.

yeah ,but I wanted the jolicloud ISO & USB creator , the only option is for a torrent download . I have downloaded the other .exe file one ,but no way do I want windows & jolicloud on the same laptop.I wanted to install this onto an old Amarda M300
#7
Download Utorrent then choose the right hand option, this should allow you to start the iso download that you need :o)
#8
You can even use an online downloader to do it:
http://www.bitlet.org/

For the record there is no problem putting windows and linux on the same box. It even uses the windows bootloader, can be removed very easily and its almost impossible it could break anything.

Link goes straight back to hotukdeals site.

I have installed mine on windows so i can use both jolicloud , xp or windows 7 . Sorry about link not working at the top . Ive tried re-adding the link but it wont let me in edit

Will Virtualbox it - hot from me.

I have just installed this on my HP Pavilion Desktop (circa 2007?) running windows Vista. It took half an hour to get it working properly (I'm a novice user). It's now running with the option of Jolicloud or Vista on boot up. Despite the fact I've only had it running for 30 minutes, I have a funny feeling Windows is going to be pretty idle! This is simply excellent.

will try this - thanks

Can this be hacked to work on the Joggler?
#24
The Therapist
Can this be hacked to work on the Joggler?
here

Now to the guide.

Taken from the original UNE Installation guide.

1. Take an usb stick with at least 4 GB and create two partitions on it using gparted: the first one in fat32 with 100 MB, the second one in ext3 format.

2. Download Jolicloud (ISO CD Version):
http://www.jolicloud.com/download#jolicloud-iso

3. Either run the ISO an a virtual machine (Sun VirtualBox not Open Source Edition for Windows or Linux) or burn the ISO on a CD and boot it on your PC. If installing on a virtual mashine, be sure to have USB support and activate your usb stick on the virtual machine.

4. During the Setup of Jolicloud, choose to install it, choose manual settings for the installation and choose the ext3 partition from the usb stick as destination (mount point "/", format). Do not create a swap partition.

5. Go some steps further and (!important!) choose NOT to install bootloader. Therefore you have to click somewhere at "settings/details" or so ever.

6. Let the install do its stuff - this will take roughly 40 minutes.

7. When installation has ended, restart your pc or quit the virtual machine.

8. Boot into linux on your pc.

9. Download the both archives at http://www.gforums.de/daten/joggler/jog ... 32.tar.bz2 and http://www.gforums.de/daten/joggler/jog ... n2.tar.bz2

10. Put the first archive ("partition 1") on the first partition of your stick (fat32) and the second archive on the ext3-Partition. Confirm to overwrite already existing files!

11. Edit your /etc/fstab file (from the usb stick) and put a # in front of all lines expect the one that describes the ext3 partition and the /proc one.

12. Having done this, plug the usb stick in to your joggler together with a mice and keyboard on an usb hub and boot it up. The first boot it will do a system check, then it will reboot normally.
#25
An easier way to run it on the joggler http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/jolicloud/:)
