Not sure if already added but thought of sharing as is really good and 100% FREE antivirus and anti-malware from Microsoft.
This has been there for quite some time and i have been using this for long and is really good and reliable.
Use Microsoft Security Essentials to guard against viruses, spyware, and other evil software. It provides real-time protection for your home or small business PCs.
Microsoft Security Essentials is free* and we designed it to be simple to install and easy to use. It runs quietly and efficiently in the background so you don't have to worry about interruptions or making updates.

sorted byI used AVG for over ten years until MSE came out. In my opinion MSE is far superior.
Agree, AVG misses a lot of the nasty stuff. I run MSE in conjunction with Malwarebytes.
malwarebytes.org/
MSE has a new version being beta tested at the mo.
I had this trouble too, turned out I had a bug that reinstalled each time it was removed, also it messed with windows defender, not used it since.
Odd logic.
seriously, you are risking it with AVG now. Its really bad as the number of people reporting viruses using this in MISC is a daily occurrence
No disprespect but I wouldnt trust which magazine to know what they are doing when it comes to comprehensive testing of software.
Interesting. You obviously know more than the so called professionals that test these things......
Granted it was posted over a year ago, but is still valid
So they know what and where all the exploits are... unlike other AV

You think everything's fine, and it picks up the odd problem maybe, but what you'll never know about are the things it's failing to pick up. You've no means of knowing what your software's missing.
For what it's worth, Which? recently tested and rated the main free offerings as follows:
Microsoft Security Essential 2012 84%
AVG Antivirus Free 2012 75%
Avira Free 65%
Avast! Free Antivirus 6 50%
Could be, but looking at the way they test, it does look pretty comprehensive - certainly better than the very subjective views of individual posters (and again I include myself in that).
i use it with a modified version of windows safer than the house the pig made of bricks..
although i have got super antispyware free and malwarebytes running alomg side this
But use kaspersky now as a paid AV.
No worries - we've got some of those in here, doing just that.
Actually from that article the conclusion is it is slow.
Avast is the best, and usually it is found to be the fastest.
Here is the link again to the article in case it wasn't visible:

I use MSE and find it better than AVG but i also use Peerblock for p2p file sharing, here is a link
