Free LIME Energy Saving Plug AND Water Widget

These two green gadgets are completely free (one per household). Lets make this HOT so people find out about it and lower their energy usage for free! The LIME Energy Saving Plug has been offered as free in the past (http://www.hotukdeals.com/freebies/free-lime-energy-saving-plug/707296) but only people over 70 or on benefits were eligible. This is for everyone!

From the website:
Cyclescheme would like to offer you FREE home energy saving products as part of the Government's initiative to cut carbon emissions. These products are designed for use in the home and aim to reduce energy use, resulting in real savings on your utility bills.

1. The LIME Energy Saving Plug (rrp £19.99)
This intelligent plug switches appliances off standby (and on again) at one easy click of a button and is very simple to install. Households in the UK now spend around 10% of their electricity bill on standby power, with the average household having up to 12 gadgets left on standby at any one time. (source: Energy Saving Trust). Leaving items on standby wastes energy and money, so start thinking 'savings' not 'standby' with a free LIME energy saving plug and you could save up to £20 on your energy bills.

2. The Water Widget (rrp £11.75)
The Water Widget takes less than 5 minutes to fit. By reducing the water flow through your shower head and by introducing air at high pressure through its patented technology, you don't even notice the pressure difference but you will notice the savings! It reduces the amount of water used by up to 70%. For an averaged sized 3 bedroom house this could result in a saving of up to £80 off your annual bill.

Offer ends 31st December 2010 so register now!

I'm not sure whether this should be in 'Freebies' or 'Vouchers'. I'm going to go with Freebies but remember to enter 'CYCLESCHEME' or 'GADGET' as the Promotion Code to get the gadgets

Edited By: hotdeals on Oct 04, 2010 18:26: They changed the code

Fresh from the "Wild Claims" department, this website reckons:

Rubbish! we're fairly typical - using about 10kW*Hr per day. The standby appliances we have use so little power our electricity consumption meter won't register it.

Got these last time round, took an age to arrive though.

The energy saving plug works a treat, its easy to set up & control with your TV remote and will save energy if like me the TV socket is difficult to reach.

Not so sure about the water widget, fitted it but it looked poor quality next to my other bath fittings, when I had to replace the flexible hose it was impossible to remove it without damage, so its now been recycled and I won't bother replacing it.

Thanks!

I received a similar device and despite the claims my shower was significantly less powerful after it was fitted (which was very easy to do). Removing it was another matter, and I ended up breaking the shower in the process. So the thing ended up costing much more than it saved!

i dont do cold votes but wont be voting hot as i have applied for these 3 times in the past and never had one turn up some im sceptical if it is even a deal or just a way of getting some details

this was on months ago with other codes GREEN, GREEN1 ......
has anyone ever recieved them (and does not work for the company)

The Grass Roots Group UK Ltd,
Pennyroyal Court, Station Road, Tring, Herts, HP23 5QY.
#16
I don't work for um and I got mine but it did take ages.
#17
I got the plug last time-it takes ages-dont expect them in for the end of the week, end of the year would be more likely but if and when it arrives its worth it.
The socket for my bedroom TV is a nightmare to get to so this switches off the socket when you put the TV onto standby and saves leccy and lowers the fire risk so well worth trying to get one-good luck all!
Heat added.

Just out of curiosity did those who received theirs tick that they were receiving any of the benefits or 'none of the above'? My initial reaction on seeing this question and then being told that my appication would be looked at to decide whether or not I qualified leads me to believe that you will only get them if you are on benefits of some kind. I could be wrong but just a hunch.

The email I got from the Cyclescheme said: "We would like to offer everyone the opportunity to claim FREE energy saving gadgets. This giveaway is also in support of the government's carbon reduction commitment. Please forward this offer via email to all your colleagues and/or post this message on your company intranet." Then the URL

I got one of those Energy Saving Plugs a while ago - it's v.good. I currently use it to switch off the XBOX 360's power brick via my TV's remote control - saves me 3w :)
#29
This is great, dont need to get out of bed once ive finshed with TV/XBOX/PS3

:D
#30
Mine turned up yesterday, takes an age to come through to the extent you'll probably forget you ordered one.
#31
Nice one.. And not because I'm to lazy to take the 3 steps to the plug socket! If it takes an age to arrive that's fine as it is free.
#32
thanks, much appreciated :)

Agree 100% I have printer, router, cable modem, 3 handfree phones all on 24/7

I also have TV, PS3, Wii, 360, 2 set top boxes all on standby, microwave clock, oven clock etc etc etc.

Have a prepayment meter, have done tests over night with them all off and them all on, no noticeable difference whatsoever.

I didn't spend money having a mains pressure hot water system in order to fit a device that reduces the pressure either. Numerous people have said such devices make a noticeable difference, common sense says it must, if it's reducing the flow rate, the shower wont be as powerful.
#34
Thank you.
#35
Nice one!
#36
Mine arrived last week, have to agree with Melipona the widget is of poor quality but the energy saving plug works a treat...
#37
Message after apllication states gadgets will only be sent after validity has been verified, guess some people do not qualify.
#38
Got mine yesterday, where to put it now...
#39
Mine arrived today too. Excellent!
