i'm thinking they will say they will only insulate some of your loft (as your loft is too big!)and make you pay for the rest. Have heard this happening to other people.

love how they say "and now we are offering it for FREE" omitting the fact that the costs are added on to everyone's utility bills!

is there a catch???

Well you can if its a pre-1930s cavity construction (most aren't though).

Sadly I'm with E.on and you have to be over 70 to qualify with them.:(

If you took away all of these CESP obligations handed down by Government, your utility bill would probably come down by ~£100 per annum. Add to this, we will soon have to pay for everyone to have a Smart Meter which will be another ~£40 per annum, plus all the other green nonsense ... we could probably knock 25% off our bills if the government would stop putting in place these "stealth taxes".
#14
British Gas have also been doing this.

I just climbed up on my roof to check the date my house was built. It was snowing, but I needed to know, so hey.

It said 'Made in Taiwan'.

some of the clauses are contradictory....

- Confirm your home is not a flat or maisonette, or that the insulation is not for an extension only.
- If you live in a flat, maisonette or dormer bungalow, confirm your property has a loft and that the insulation isn’t for an extension only. (Why bother asking this based on the first point...

-Confirm your home is not timber or metal framed, pre-fabricated or made from natural stone or concrete. what could it be made out of then, just brick??

I suspect that may be the case but have applied anyway as I needed to get this done.

Fingers crossed I qualify.

Many thanks to the OP.

I had my loft done but BG told me i could not have both loft and cavity done. I chose loft as it badly needed doing plus i have heard about some condensation problems after people have had cavity wall insulation.
#25
Meh!

Is this only for EDF customers?

Is this only for EDF customers?

I don't think so - as my property is a bit unusual I did the registration by phone and the guy didn't even mention this, just said the survey team would be in touch and there would be nothing to pay!

Mine was built 1897 according to the plaque on the front, and has a cavity wall (I had it insulated when I moved in five years ago - saved me a fortune in heating).

C'mon, it was quite funny.

I stil cannot see any small print, its normally only people on benefits or over 70s get this sort of thing

Come on girls and boys lets do a dymo and every body order new loft insulation
Some of you could even roll it up afterwards and resell it on fleabay
#31
My house is a 27" wide cardboard box, with a piece of polythene over it, and a piece of polythene as ground insulation. It has survived the last 4 winters without all this modern new fangled insulation stuff. I think that the AOPs today are too spoiled!

I'd also like to know this.

OP, do you already have loft insulation?

I do and wondered if EDF would just install cavity insulation on its own.
