Spotify is a DRM-based music streaming service offering unlimited streaming of selected music from a range of major and independent record labels including Sony, EMI, Warner Music Group and Universal with virtually no buffering delay. The system is currently accessible using Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and mobile devices such as the iPhone and those running Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile or Palm's HP webOS.[5]
Music can be browsed by artist, album, record label, genre or playlist as well as by direct searches. On desktop clients a link allows the listener to purchase selected material via partner retailers. Launched in October 2008 by Swedish startup "Spotify AB", the service has approximately ten million users as of September 15, 2010; about 750,000 of these are paying members.
Users can register either for free accounts supported by visual and radio-style advertising or for paid subscriptions without ads and with a range of extra features such as higher bitrate streams and offline access to music. A "Premium" account is required to use Spotify on mobile devices.
Spotify is currently available only in certain parts of Europe, with paid subscriptions restricted to people with credit/debit cards or PayPal accounts registered in particular countries.

Note the free membership is only 20 hours of free music, very easy to create an account, just username and password.

Great service

Been using this for years. I also noticed they have bought out 'Spotify Open'. 20 hours free access per month, 10 million tracks.

I'm on an actual free account (can't get them now0 so I have unlimited free per month! Excellent software and I highly reccommend it.

Not a new offer! As DeeKay said, Spotify Open has been around ages.
#3
I'm lucky as I also have proper free account with no time limit :)

I have the free account, getting a bit sick of the ads though but really cant bring myself to pay £10/MONTH to go ad free :(

It really is an excellent service though, the songs played through spotify are far superior in quality than anything I get from iTunes

I love spotify - used to listen unltd with ads but then decided to pay the 4.99 a month for no ads - bought a pair of speakers for my lap top and now have pretty much any music I want for under £5 a month! Unbeliveable - why pay more??

I heard they were going bust though?

It's only 4.99 to go ad free!

I'm on the £10/m subscription as I do a lot of driving. It is absolutely brilliant, with the only thing lacking being the ability to save music to the SD card.

I really hope they don't go bust though... @BombTheBass - where did you hear that?
#13
@Ypnos - Only from a friend who said he heard it - may just be a non truthful rumour - but I do wonder if they can make enough money from what they do - had a lot of invesment I think

last.fm! :D

I, too, have free spotify and it rules like a very big ruler. The ads 'mostly' don't really bother me.Hot heat added.

Does Spotify actually offer anything that mflow doesn't? (Not a criticism of Spotify BTW - I'm genuinely interested, was always put off Spotify by the ads or subscription model.)

You can get unlimited listening rather than 20 hours if you get invited by a Premium member with spare invites... if only there was one of them here (_;)

p.s. Can I not add coments with links until I'm a certain level of member?

An invite wouldn't let you have it on your phone, it's just access to the free version of spotify without the time restraints - Computer only. If you still want one though just PM your email addy.

two invites left....these are for the pc and remove the 20 hours a month restriction of listening to music...u will still get adverts but its unlimited listening...

I'm unsure how you can think last.fm compares to Spotify. It's a different service entirely.
