And also specifically if you're interested in PIC chips (made by microchip) you can get samples delivered free, up to 12 per order (3 chips of 4 different types), from http://sample.microchip.com - good if you're looking into getting into embedded programming on the cheap :)

Tried this but i can only find 'no samples'?

You will need to find what you're looking for and type in the item code...

Found some Thanks!

I don't recommend this personally, if too many people take advantage of these kinds of offers then people who really need it may be denied when the distributors remove the offer.

Used this company about 4 years ago for an electronics project! The chip in retail cost about £8 or something silly, so it was a nice saving getting it for free :).

Maxim still to this day send me a brochure booklet every month which just gets binned though lol.

Its a good deal but please don't abuse it - if you have a project in mind etc thats good but don't get them to sell on ebay or just because..

Have some heat for posting something a bit different.

I'm gonna build a robot!

Most IC manufacturers offer free samples, thier reasoning being that if you build a prototype with samples then you'll be placing orders for several thousand chips when it makes it to production

Can Anyone Find Me A Chip To Solder On Mp3 Player To Plug A Headphone Jack Into?
#17
I wouldn't be too optimistic unless your first order on account is to a registered company address, never got any when at university but very quick delivery and no problems when at a real electronics company!
#18
Thank goodness I gave my Ltd. co. the SIC for Robot Building.

A sex robot ?

Probably not. I think I'll just go for a traditional tea making and alien fighting type robot.

Theoretically, an MP3 player would already have everything it needs chip-wise and one would assume a headphone socket... why would you be wanting to solder another?

be warned if customs ask for vat then you will have to pay via cash on delivery.
read it in the terms and conditions. because you have to be a registered company.
