Just found this - you can get access to MS Office Web Apps via SkyDrive for free.

All you need for personal use is a free Windows Live ID.

The MS blurb:

These convenient online companions to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote offer you an easy way to access, view, and edit documents directly from your Web browser."

    Brilliant offer.

It's always been free. The only thing you needed was a hotmail/livemail account. =)

Why is this getting voted so hot? They've always been free and Google Docs have been around for even longer...

Both valid comments, but only if you know about it. There's still a lot of people buying MS Office, or looking for deals, that don't want to use Google Docs, Open Office, or Libre Office.
That's why I posted it - to help those that want to use MS Office (for free!)

One major problem at the moment is Microsoft has changed (2007/2010) that file formats , for example Vlookups syntax are simpler but incompatible with previous versions (they will open). In short you cant rely on OpenOffice/Libre or even StarOfice even with the converters. You need Microsofts version. I just bought a version of Microsoft Office 2010 for 40 notes...Student edtion
