A new service that will let you make local and international phone calls for free from your landline has been launched. PokeTalk lets you make calls of up to 10 minutes long to a variety of destinations across the globe. No need for a headset, microphone or speakers. Found at Computer Shopper - http://www.computershopper.co.uk/news/234945/call-from-your-landline-for-free.html? link in first post.
After the 10 mins are up, you can redial and continue with you call.
It may save some people money. Shame about the name of the service really - it mislead me at first :).

but they charge for incoming calls and the call has to come in to you from poke to connect so I guess your line supplier will bill you for a call coming in!

You are mistaken - If you get charged for incoming calls by your line supplier you will get charged - I'm not aware that this is the case in the U.K. - When I get an incoming call I don't get billed by BT - do you? Please read the FAQs throughly before guessing and making incorrect comments. Here's a link for you to read http://www.poketalk.com/index.php/static_c/help

This via a landline not computer hand/headset and is free so sounds better that voipcheap. Costs are paid by the adverts on the website. Try it - you might be surprised!

OP based on review at Computer Shopper - a very reputable publication - please read this before commenting or voting cold. http://www.computershopper.co.uk/news/234945/call-from-your-landline-for-free.html?CMP=NLC-Newsletters
Rimi - I received an email maybe you put wrong details in and if you'd really visited the website you'd know you do no dialing - comment and critique as you like but please do so after trying the service rather than using your imagination.

Hello Nina
Here an article from computer shopper magazine that might answer some of your questions. http://www.computershopper.co.uk/news/234945/call-from-your-landline-for-free.html?CMP=NLC-Newsletters
It states "The company makes its money by hosting advertisements on its website, but there is no cost to the consumer." :)
