Forget Onlive.. for now.. Gaikai enables you to play Next Gen console games LIVE in your browser, and its started already, theres demos of Mass Effect 2 and Dead Space 2 ready to play on their site and others too. No downloading of any kind. No gaming hardware needed, such as a 3d graphics card, just a pretty fast internet connection required.
Note - 5Mb minimal recommended.

if so i suppose 'anything' with graphics card capable of rendering the video back and connection speed could play any game?
pretty cool if so but cant see it remaining free or even cheap?
edit: read more and answer is yes to all apart from cost which i dunno.

Quite impressive - the response time is really good.
I can see stuff like this giving consoles a run for their money once fast very broadband is commonplace. A simple set-top box could handle the service.
Not voting as I can't test it. Hopefully it'll work better than onLive. (which I tried elsewhere on a 10mb connection). It worked but would go choppy every so often. It'd be much better if you could change the resolution you play at.
Just be persistent with it and it'll work eventually :-)

A high response time means your speed is slow, silly :p
