Nike+ GPS app is now free on the iTunes store. I think it used to be £1.19, but now free for a limited time.

It should be free anyway... you have to buy an adapter kit to go with it.. Bloody cheek from apple and nike, charging for it in the first place..

I think it works without the kit as well but I have to try first to be sure. The kit is available from argos I have seen it being sold at around £13 sometime don't know the current price.
review found on Mac world website...
"this new app does not require the purchase of a Nike + iPod Sport Kit—it relies solely on device hardware like the GPS and accelerometer. As a result, iPhone and iPod touch users now only need to consider purchasing a $2 app versus a $30 kit (iPod nano owners, however, will still need the kit)."

No you dont - this is separate from the kit with the adapter

Been using this for 3 months and it's brill!

You don't need anything to use it and it works even without the gps having a signal by using the iphone accelerometer to work out how fast you are running. Pretty accurate even on the treadmill!

As for compatibility I know the app says it's 3GS and up only but I've not had a single problem using it on a 3G.

Pity they haven't an android version. Have to stick with endomondo.
#14
Sweet deal.

Meh, sucks that my iPod doesn't have GPS :(
#15
Edmondo- i use Mapmyrun on the android, this is also available on iphone for free. It uses GPS and google maps, and offers support on the web, you can also watch a 3d fly-by movie of your run/cycle/etc.
#16
PS even if it does not need the adapter it should still be free. Nike don't need the money, and other apps are all free, edmondo, softrace, mapmyrun, etc.

I initially thought you needed the nike plus sensor so bought one... however, I use this via GPS and its incredibly accurate and a great product. I have ran about 350km in the last three months with this and it is excellent... tracks route, fast and slow points in your run, maps out the run you took and shows you the elevation... I think the £1.19 was well worth it... certainly my most used app, absolutely awesome for free...

Have you tried adidas micoach from the android market? It's free and I prefer it to all the other similar apps.
