Can't beat free training. Even if there is a sales pitch somewhere in there for their more advanced levels, you either want to, or you don't.

Heat added, regardless of whether I attend or not, it is a great freebie. Though I am strongly considering applying for a place on the Birmingham or Manchester course.

I did the one held in Salford, Manchester and it was brilliant- and yes there is a sales pitch but as you said you either do or dont :)
I met some lovely people too, lawyers, doctors, sales assistants, managers, entrepeneurs ect...

:) thanks

Ohh - I know a few Salfordians that would curse you for saying Salford is in Manchester :P
Still, if that's where they hold it I could arrange to see some friends whilst I'm in the area - making it even more of a bargain :)

This would be fantastic for me! I work in a children's hospice so it might be of great benefit.... does anyone know if they reject/accept many people?

One can only make assumptions about this. However, I would suggest that given that at the heart of offering this course is the promotion of their paid for courses, I doubt they reject many applications. Promotion like this is very much a numbers game, and whilst they will want to weight the people in the room more towards those that are more likely to purchase the other courses, they will not want an empty seat in the house.

Also, given your vocation (because working in a hospice is so much more than a job), you are likely to light up their radar. You are doubtlessly correct that NLP would be a benefit. So - to look at the cold, harsh analytical side: You have a daily contact with people whom are likely to respond very well to someone who is able to interact in a more confident manner. In addition, you are within an organisation that has a number of people who might benefit from such training. The organisers would likely view your application as a gateway. You attend, and even if you don't personally apply for a paid course, you may take documentation back to the hospice for people to look at. This in turn creates the opportunity for others to apply for a paid course, or even for a corporate training booking from the hospice.

As I said, it is a cold and harsh analysis, but that is marketing in a nutshell. I would be very surprised if you were turned down for a place.

That isn't meant to sound detrimental to what is being offered. At the end of the day, the training is bound to be valuable, even if it is only an introductory course. And providing you attend knowing that you will not allow yourself to feel pressured into a decision that you don't want to make (even with the harshest of cold sellers - there is always a door to walk out of), there really isn't a negative aspect to something like this. I would suggest, based on sianwhalen96's posts, that the sales pitch is actually quite gentle - and given the subject matter, I wouldn't expect it to be anything else.

As far as I know, they dont reject people xx plus as DLEE1 said its all about word of mouth and spreading awareness of the courses they offer :) x good luck
