This is THE ultimate freebie for all n-gage enthusiasts.
The new Nokia n-gage application is now ready (though limited to owner of the following Nokia models: Nokia N81, Nokia N81 8GB, Nokia N82, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB) -> if you have one of other n-series phones, nothing is stopping you from pretending you have one of the above models to get a license and then you might be able to use it later on...

This is what you need to do - it sounds long, but it is really steb-by-step guide - takes no longer than 5-10 mins (depending on yr internet speed):

note: if you use the direct link, skip to step 4

1. Go to: http://play.n-gage.com/
2. Choose United Kingdom
3. on the right-hand side, click GET IT NOW
4. click on the type of mobile you have (for instance Nokia N95)
5. on the right-hand side again, click "download N-gage"
6. click "Proceed"
7. "Accept" the T's & C's (after reading them:) )
8. the n-gage application download should start automatically.
9. connect your mobile to your pc using the USB cable, make sure that the Nokia PC Suite application is installed on the pc beforehand
10. install the downloaded n-gage application to your mobile
11. click "Download Fifa 08!"
12. click "Download and install game now"
13. again. "Accept" the T's & C's
14. download should begin automatically. again install the downloaded application to your mobile using USB
15. enter yr mobile number to the space provided on the website.
16. Click send and you will get a link to your mobile. After both the n-gage and fifa 08 applications are installed in yr mobile successfully click on the link in the message you received from nokia to activate the licence*.

*note: Activation requires internet access. It is recommended to use wi-fi where possible, to prevent any extra charges levied by the operator.

any questions, let me know

#5
There's link underneath to click if you already have nGage, but I wouldn't worry, it's expired.

I had already uninstalled FIFA08 from my N95 8GB. Just follow through the instructions and eventually you will get to download FIFA08. Download it to your phone. After you've done that, you then get Nokia to send you an activation link via WAP. Just follow the instructions through, it's just taken me 1 minute to do, doddle.

Great find. Now we just have to hope they do it with the fishing game and system rush!

NOOOO! Anyone else get the 'Proxy server error' message when they try to download the link sent to their phone?
#10
If you already have both N-Gage and the FIFA 08 trial on your phone you can skip the hoop jumping by going straight here for your license number: http://play.n-gage.com/Download.aspx?step=4

(Cancel the download that the page will prompt.)

As a footnote for those unfamiliar with international calling standards, in order to get the link sent to your number, remove the first '0' from your mobile number and type the rest directly after '+44'. No spaces.

I now have free FIFA 08! Thank you 'registracia'. :)
#11
it may be a strange question but what number do i put in after the +44 - do i put my full mobile number in or do i take off the 0 at the start - i never get this right
#12
sorry just seen the first post regarding the 44 prefix

Thanks - I tried wi-fi when I got home and it worked straight away. Shame about the game though, would have preferred System Rush or Kappa Base...still, owt for nowt and all that!

I'm sure this is some proxy thing to do with Vodafone. They install MSN Messenger out of the box but you can only connect to it if you use GPRS...ie they make loads of cash from people who don't have data plans. The whole point of me getting an N-95 8GB was so I could surf wirelessly using wi-fi.

Thankfully, once you've made the initial connection via GPRS, you then connect to wi-fi and disconnect the GPRS 'active data connection'. Stick that in your pipe, Vodafone!

Well duh... upgrade to the latest nokia firmware. Wipes out all the voda **** (but keeps your GPRS settings etc), and you can install Windows Live which costs £1.50 a month instead of £3!

Its really easy, but musicstation won't work anymore, so bare that in mind.

pm me if you want to know more.
