Free Object Dock For Netbook | Laptop @ Stardock

Managed to bag the excellent Tesco netbook deal and installed this excellent app, works great on the netbook better on a laptop

It basically makes our humble PC's imitate the apple mac

The version I use is the free version and it's all you really need

Here's the blurb ...

If you like the interface of the Mac OS but are stuck using a Windows machine, this little app from Stardock can help--if only very slightly. The premise behind ObjectDock is very simple: it adds an animated, Mac-inspired dock to your desktop that provides easy access to useful shortcuts and serves to replace your taskbar (if you so choose).

The ObjectDock install is quick and light, and the program is extremely easy to set up. A simple settings menu lets you choose how many items you want on the dock, where it is positioned, and whether you want zoom enabled. You can also adjust the size, style, and color as well as set it to autohide or remain on top.

In addition, the free version of ObjectDock includes various "docklets" (Stardock's term for widgets) that can provide quick access to weather, time, and so on.

Publisher's description From Stardock:
ObjectDock is designed to add style, organization, and function to your Windows experience. Place your favorite web links, program shortcuts and information widgets on this fun, animated and easy-to-use dock. Additional docklets provide quick access to weather, time, and other useful information. A new UI allows users to choose from a number of styles and special effects for a custom experience. The free version has only one dock (Plus version adds capability to have multiple docks, adds Tabbed docks, System Tray support and skin recoloring).

I honestly don't know. Its a great little program that doesn't hog up loads of resources - well it works on my n270 netbook no probs with nis2011 running in the background too

You can customise it quite a lot and there's loads of themes and icon sets for it online all again for FREE!!!

This is a good program for those that may want to get rid of the task bar, or have a different program launcher. I have used it for a few years (as well as rocket dock)

Within the settings of objectdock you 'hide' the taskbar so it doesn't appear at all

The standard version has been free for years, not sure why this is considered hot as such.

Very easy. Install the program, trf your main/all your shortcuts to it. Voila instant clean desktop

In the settings hide the taskbar like I've done in the 1st post

No, I'd googled 1024x600 wallpapers got the sw image for my background and as I've always been using od just thought I'd share

It's a great product with some really nice skins and best of all it's free!

Pointless as Windows has a taskbar so why have yet another useless app running in the foreground?
