Free to plusnet customers.
We will be offering customers a free .uk domain name from around the 21st of June. Customers will be able to activate this via the member centre home page, and will then be able to register their new domain via our domain registration page (Please note due to maintenance, this page may be unavailable at the time of reading). We will continue to renew the domain, free of charge for the lifetime of each customers account, but a nominal charge of £5.99 will apply if we are asked to transfer this domain to another supplier.

Look like a good deal, voted hot, been with Plusnet for many years and don't intend to leave so I might just go for this one. Did you get this info from an email, if so I guess it'll be waiting for me at home!

Is a bribe to keep everyone happy after allowing spammers to hack their webmail system?

No longer with PlusNET... never, never again (though Sky seem to be a bit of a shower too :x )

Its a start to repair damage done by their poor security.

this offer was posted on their forum and on the front page of the members center.
even if you dont know how to set up a webpage or site it might be an idea to register your domain as its free and names are bound to go soon. I managed to register sloany.me.uk. I probably wont use it as i already have 2 other domains, but, for free, its there if i want it.

And yes i believe this is to sweeten people due to the webmail debacle, but, hey, was you inconvenienced anymore than getting spam?

have been with a few ISP and have found plusnet to be the best for me, at least they are upfront if they make a mistake and their customer service isnt in bombay!

Actually yes, was out of the country at the time and unable to access any of my email and when I could it was so full of Spam I had to re-direct my email elsewhere, previously I got very little spam and none at all directly to my PlusNET inbox.

This was the final nail in the coffin for me after loss of newsgroup access, port throttling / traffic shaping and fair usage policy all on a supposed unlimited product and please don't get me started on being moved to a non-working LLU product without even telling me!

Perhaps you are sensing a little bitterness, if you are happy with PlusNET and not really affected then good luck to you hopefully now they're owned by BT procedures will be tightened up. For me the sky offer was too good to resist and after initial teething problems they are certainly no worse...

And as you say if you're already a customer it's a reasonable freebie

Just ordeed mine.

Still not happy with the service as I am getting around 300kb speeds when paying for up to 8mb! Not sure if it is enough of a gift after the spam problem and my connection issues!

Im certainly not complaining when i get these speeds
