It appears on the Cheshire Council homepage too: http://www.cheshire.gov.uk/

Unusually it is free car parking AND free admission to all the attractions. Usually it's one or the other as car parking and park adminstration is by Cheshire County Council and the Estate is managed by National Trust.

The park is signposted from J19 M6 and J8 M56. Nearest railway station: Knutsford 0.25 miles from park entrance, 2 miles from Estate.

On Saturday 28 March Tatton Park, one of the most beautiful National Trust estates in the north west, is holding a free Open Day to acknowledge 120 years of Cheshire County Council. The usual admission and parking charges will be waived and the public is invited to enjoy a family fun day out in a very special place.
Each year around 750,000 people enjoy its gardens and parkland, the Mansion and the farm as well as year-round special events. Visitors can walk for miles around the park, have hands-on encounters with rare-breed animals, buy Tatton?own venison and other quality produce in the Housekeeper?Store (where you will need to get your wallet out!) and - of course - be stunned by the gardens that just keep getting more seductive year after year. The Royal Horticultural Society obviously thinks so too, because Tatton has been one of their enormously popular Flower Show venues for the last ten years, attracting an extra 94,000 garden enthusiasts in 2008!

this came out wrong, the title was supposed to say free parking and entry to tatton park on 28th march
#2
Might be a good idea to put a better subject than "Free parking".

Why not "Tatton Park - Free entry and free parking on 28th March"

update: see you have now done that.

>Usually it's one or the other

Sorry to be pedantic but it is not NORMALLY "one OR the other", it depends what you do.

Everyone (even National Trust members) NORMALLY have to pay to "enter" the grounds and park (around £4 I seem to remember).

This gives you access to the general grounds, kids play area, plus the old stable block which has the cafe, gift shop, toilets etc.

If you dont want to go into the house or gardens or farm that is all you NORMALLY have to pay. You can then walk around the general grounds to your hearts content.

If you want to go into the house or the main gardens you NORMALLY have to pay extra (but it is free to National Trust members).

There is also a rare breeds farm which you also NORMALLY need to pay for (but I think NT members get a reduced cost).

I went there last year and it is an amazing place, but I should imagine on 28th March if it is free it is going to be PACKED so not sure it is the best day to go and see the house or the gardens or the farm.

You can download a map of the grounds here

It is.

I was just pointing out that your comment of "Usually it's one or the other" is not quite true for NORMAL days (not your special day).

I have now updated my append to show I am talking about NORMAL days, not your free day

Yes, this seems sensible. I will second it.

Also - can anyone tell me more about the "hands-on encounters with rare-breed animals"? Do you get to pet goats or something? (Being serious - I will think about heading up there if there will be cool animals to interact with).

i just copied this from the original text,

"Visitors can walk for miles around the park, have hands-on encounters with rare-breed animals,"

i hope this can answer your question, or go through to the cheshire website, i think it is www.cheshire.gov.uk

Nope, the 28th is the first day of the high season:
