This Sunday, we're giving away a free E.ON PC Desktop PowerDown worth over £15 - Collect at Sainsburys.
(EDIT: on page 9 of the 'Fabulous' mag there is a voucher for free chocs at Thorntons too)
This is a clever multi-plug that automatically switches off any electrical equipment plugged in to it (such as scanners and printers) when you turn off your PC.

That means they won't be using energy and costing you money when they are in standby mode.

I find these a bit pointless.

I always switch off at the wall.

The one I was given by EON has 3 sockets. One on top & one either side

I think that these are brilliant. My switches are difficult to reach and I have one on my PC (controlling 2 monitors, USB hubs etc.) and one on the televison (DVD and tape players). The only trouble is I have NEVER taken a newspaper coupon to a store and found them to have any stock of anything on the coupon. So I don't bother any more. Worth the trouble if you already buy the newspaper and can walk to a Sainsburys.

This is probably a pointless device that was featured on Dragons' Den

..... Which subsequently made no money

..... in short, I'M OUT!!!

I don't understand after us being in 21st century why these things r not inbuilt in the products or tech devices?

frustating to have loads of things to power somethings then other gadgets to save power when not in use and then other gadgets to charge them then other to store other things and keep them in good condition..............spare the clutter...............
#14

no good for me. my pc is on 24/7 but could be usefull for some. h and r added.

all i can suggest is, that if you want one, go early, apparently at our store last sunday the rep that was dishing them out only stayed for about 2 hours, and went at 12. I managed to get my hands on last sundays offering, and its quite useful for our settup at home, when its difficult to read round to the back of the tv, to get to the plug socket...

and from the looks of the box the pc power down looks pretty much the same as the tv standby

it's energy saving credentials are dubious but people lap up stuff for free.

often they are, the idea that ALL devices in standby use lots of power is a total myth. SOME do yes but most well designed products use almost nothing.

edit: read this

It works in Hibernation or Sleep mode too. Resumes the computer at the last point even while surfing.

Really good Gadget. Don't know if it messed around with my settings in such a low consumption state?
