Noticed this online and last posting I could find on hukd was over 7 months ago so felt it was well worth posting as could save a life

Obviously being a trained 1st aider is ideal and this would only cover the basics but it's better than nothing?

Get a free first aid guide

This pocket sized guide gives you essential first aid advice. It covers five common conditions where straightforward first aid could be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

You'll learn how to treat:

Choking
Heart attack
Severe bleeding
Dealing with an unconscious person
Dealing with someone who isn’t breathing.

May be a good idea to use your spam email/info for this to avoid calls from them in future?

Thanks..;. Could always come in handy...

EVERYONE should at least one of these somewhere close to hand.....you never know.....I've ordered one of these but thought it worth mentioning that there is a really simple iPhone app as well which is free to download and is super easy to use and helped me on a couple of occasions. Check out the Iphone store for more details......

I applied for one of these as appeared useful.
Possibly about a year ago, not had one yet!
However, did receive a lengthy call asking for a direct debit to be set up.
As much as this is a good cause, wasn't hugely impressed with their methods.

What's it called? You should post it on hukd

Checked the St johns version on iTunes and thats over £2, will wait when that comes down in price

I thought this was useful too as only covers the basics but at least you can keep it with you at all times and it could save soneones life. Well worth it :)

I received one, I have also received 20+ telephone calls from them telephone number is 02076197597 harrassing me and asking me to set up a DD with them! I am not being funny but I have charities I support and they gain my support from not harrassing me! You have been warned, don't give them your number on the form!!

Checked online & found this:

It's a 3rd party call centre calling on behalf of St.Johns Ambulance,
wanting to get a direct debit donation.

Like I said above use spam email account & from your advice use a fictitious telephone number too!

It seems to be a call centre who don't seem to take NO for an answer. Seems St Johns isn't the only one that this happens to but a number of other charities also! So they're not alone

Best solution get the free gift but use a spam email & phone number (such as 0800, 0844, 0845 or 0870 no's)

Also have you joined up with the following

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

(ie the Telephone Preference Service). That should stop the calls or you can complain to them - hope that may be useful?

Yes, I joined that a couple of years or more ago but it hasn't helped much at all
