Oh dear, we've been rumbled:

Due to our inclusion in numerous 'freebie' websites & mailing lists, we have been swamped with email. What started out as a usefull marketing tool for business customers to sample our range of products, has turned into a way for people not interested in purchasing our products to obtain a 'freebie'.

Unfortunately, for a small business to business company, sorting through thousands of emails trying to identify the legitimate enquiries of potential customers, from bogus 'freebie' hunters has become an impossible task.

We simply cannot afford (or spare the time) to send Sample Packs to everyone who has emailed us requesting one. For this reason, Snazzybags® has decided to discontinue sending Sample Packs from requests from our website.

Finally, we would like to apologise to any legitimate business enquiries that have gone unanswered because of this problem.

This is a point I had made on this site almost a year ago and (apart from this site's admin/moderators) I was shot down in flames by the rest of the scroungers here who appear to have the attitude of "if it's free, grab it and stuff whoever is affected by such greed".

:(

To clarify, I still believe there is a subtle but significant difference between a 'sample' product used as a marketing device to ensure those who already have an interest in the product are purchasing the correct item, and a true 'freebie' that comes with no (implied) strings attached. I'm surprised if no one else can see this subtle difference and for the above reason I never request samples (unless I already have a genuine interest in purchasing the products).
There are enough genuine freebies available without putting financial strain on companies trying to earn a living by snatching all their samples resulting in this system being withdrawn completely, even for genuine potential customers.

Hmm, well as with all freebies and deals which have gain to you rather than the company (such as profit via QuidCo on low value sales or freebies from small companies) they shouldn't be abused.

It'll come to no good, orders will be cancelled, things wont' be sent out.

Please bear that in mind and what I have said in the past threads.

I agree here. Have you ever seen the Friends episode where they steal the cheesecake? Chandler says that the old lady will think that they've just not delivered the cheesecake and so will order another one. That way, the only people who lose out are the big corporate cheesecake company... then he reads the box... "Mamma's Home Bakery". Chandler feels guilty.

I don't know why I'm talking about Friends and cheesecakes, but it has a morale side. It's even wrong when it's big companies, but the big companies usually have enough money to cover the costs. Imagine though if you had a self-run business of some kind. You were barely managing to pay the company's rates and you had some smaples to deliver which you'd offered to some nice customers of yours. Instead there are 100s of emails from scroungers. You can't fullfil all of the orders... so you don't fulfill any. That's what would happen. Put yourself in their shoes.
