I have no idea if this is nationwide but on the way out the door from the Robroyston Homebase today I noticed a sign that said all cut christmas trees are now FREE.

I'd say the store I was at had about 15 sitting outside the actual entrance doors.

I dunno if this will help anyone but maybe even to plant in the garden or something?

Anyways might be worth a wee phone to your local store to see if they are doing the deal also.

Didn't think to post this.
Thought it was only local as there was only a hand written sign on the garden centre doors. (Kilmarnock store)

I had a friend who worked for HB last Christmas and they have hundreds of trees in stock and give them away free - just ask if you can't see any. Also ask them if you can have the display lights etc - they can't charge you a penny for them but will say you take them at your own risk!

Not surprised they have a huge surplus. I went there looking with my girlfriend and they wanted £35 each, we didn't stay long.

If you can get them for free, why not use it as compost & keep one or two for the back garden. HB can't keep them after the Xmas season as they will need the space for new stock. If they are happy, get a van load of them but only get what you need & don't be greedy. Your local council authority may collect them after the holidays for compost anyway. Ring them up or more details of your local collections.

they wont give them to you neither, as its against health and safety, they will all need pat testing, they will however give them to a charity that has someone whom can pat test them for you ;)
