imho your posts have been a waste and are just offering what could be considered industry standards (in the industry of free software)

Stange enough, my micorsoft Office expires in 24hrs and i was wondering if there was a key code to renew without having to purchase full version. my current problem is i have documents on Microsoft Works and Microsoft Office and I am unable to merge the documents as per formats, if that makes any sense. Help, what should i do?

    Better off going with LibreOffice

Not everyone knows about this software - voted HOT! (& I've worked in Open Source/ GPL software for 10 years)

re: PBRISCOE - I had this problem years ago and I am sure that there is a program to read these files from whichyou should be able to copy and paste into a new doc.

Not too sure but you could try Open Office as it does open all MS Office docs and is quite similar.

re: floatable & jamhops - There are always newbies coming online that do not know of these progs. I know quite a few that have been on for years that still pay for bloatware that is covered by tried and tested freeware.

Check out Software Informer from Informer Technology to check all your software for updates and links to them - FREEWARE
It also has a free software of the day app inside it.

You could try re-saving them both, within their individual programs (Works and Word), as an Rich Text Format file (.rtf) instead of the .wps and .doc types that they are defaulted to. The new rtf files could then be merged.

It's always been free, but don't knock it as long as you don't want all the whistles and bells (& slow speed) of MS Office.

There is also an integral PDF writer in it.

I thought everyone had moved onto Libre Office by now.

I thought open office was DEAD in terms of updates and LibraOffice had taken all the contributers. Am I wrong?

I don't know about works, but Office will. It can often mess up the formatting though - the reason why I won't use it. If you just want to use it for personal use, and aren't collaborating with anyone or submitting complex files anywhere it's perfect. Anything more advanced and it has the potential to get on your nerves rather quickly!

If you just want software to write letters etc. - you're better off sticking with Wordpad which is already a part of Windows. It's more than adequate for text, and there are tools there for adding pictures etc. as well.

Open Office is hardly a replacement for MS Office - there are loads of features in MS Office which don't exist in Open Office (and yes, I know it's free).

I keep hearing this but what features in MS Office do you actually use which aren't in Open/Libre Office?

    LibreOffice is better.
