I dismantled some furniture for decorating and when I reassembled, I'd misplaced a couple of the screws!

Whilst hunting the net for replacements I came across this link hidden deep in the ikea website.

http://gbinincontact.ikea.com/contactus/email.aspx?MissingParts=YES

Fill in the form and they'll send you the replacement screws FREE OF CHARGE as long as you've got the 6 digit code for the screws found in the first page of the manual (these are all available to download as PDFs from the website as if you've lost that too)

This may just help some of you who've got a missing bit :)

great................. free screws....................do u form an orderly line?.

No, not free screws, free replacement screws. It could be the difference between someone throwing a piece of furniture away or them being able to build it up again. Very valuable to someone who may need it.

It might cost ikea a fair few quid, but it's yet another reason why they're great at customer service. No other company I know provides you with replacement parts for products that could be years old.

150 mile round trip for some screws is a bit excessive - and I'd end up spending more money!!!

When I tried to get them from my local Ikea, they attempted to charge me so I just went online and ordered them.

We bought an as-new Ikea wardrobe which was already assembled...decided to add an extra shelf for shoes but we didn't have any of the little fittings. I called my local store, giving the code for the fittings (just download assembly instructions for your furniture and you will get the code on the instructions for each part), and they offered to post free of charge. We actually collected instore and they had thousands of different ones available. In the Edinburgh store at Straiton the fittings are located at the 'bargain corner' where all the damaged stuff is for sale, but maybe different in each store.

Are these applicable to the stuff in the bargain corner? As I've seen loads of decent condition furniture missing a screw or two

As long as you've got the screw number, usually something like 106360, then I don't see why not. A while ago I bought a glass door for a billy bookcase from the bargain corner, then the matching door at full price, rang up and said the door was missing its bits and they sent out a full pack. I neglected to say which of the two doors was missing its parts though

wouldn't say "great at customer service". staff at wembley are abysmal.

This is very useful web page, so I have just now tried it. I wasn't able to find this IKEA web page by searching or navigating the IKEA site. It remains to be seen whether the part actually arrives.
