Eurostar needs you!

Help us prepare for the big day and get free travel on Eurostar
If you interested in participating as a passenger in one of these test days and to be one of the first to see the new stations you just need to register your details and well let you know where and when to come along.

You will be acting as a typical traveller picking up tickets, going through check-in, security and passport control, boarding and departure and finally arrival up to 3 times in one day.

Testing will take place on the following dates:

Tuesday 30th October,
Wednesday 31st October,
Thursday 1st November,
Wednesday 7th November and
Thursday 8th November.

You will only need to be available for one of these days. You will need to arrive at St Pancras some time between 08:30 and 11:30 and will be required for somewhere between 5 and 6 hours.

Although trains will not be going through Eurotunnel (they will either turn round outside St Pancras International or go to and return from Ebbsfleet International), all participants will need a passport/national ID card (valid for international travel).

Refreshments will be provided during the day, including lunch, and travel expenses will be reimbursed up to a limit of £25.

As well as the chance to take part in this unique phase of testing, participants will also get a voucher to be redeemed for a free standard class return ticket to Paris, Lille or Brussels on HS1 (terms and conditions will apply).

I did just that. I added in my girlfriend and it seemed to accept it.
#21
Can't see what the confusion is. NO ONE is going to France. This is just so they can test their facilities. You then get a voucher for a free trip to France.

This deal is up there with one of the best I have had on this forum!!!!

Anyone know how the travel costs works? Will they just give us £25?
#30
Info for you....I worked for Eurostar when it all began and we had several days like this.
The days are basically to check all works ok within the teminal buildings with check-in, boarding, arriving, immigration etc.
As with an airport you can't have arriving passengers and departing passengers in the same room at the same time and it's things like this that they need to fine tune as such.
You will not get to go to France but you will get to travel on the train for a short distance (as it says).
You will be treated as an international passenger but won't get very far.

It's a good day, if you have time to spare and want a free trip to Paris out of it!

They took bank details, I presume it will be explained more in the pack but I think they will want a receipt and will refund it in full to a maximum of £25.

It will cost me more like £35 so I presume I will get £25 of that back (still worth it for me as I get the trip to Paris which is worth more than £10 and the evening in London :-D )
#32
voted HOT, a really good deal if you are available that day and spare hours. 5-6 hours work free eurostar to paris! pity i am busy at work ...
#33
Are the traveling expenses £25 per party/group?

or £25 per person?
#34
well i out details in for me and g/f as i think it will cost me over £25, but will see
#35
Many thanks londoncarl to let us know this deal. Does anyone know the free ticket they offer is open to each participant? Because I booked together with my girlfriend, I hope they won't give one ticket for two of us.
#36
Anyone having problems with the page? I can't see half of it and it won't move down. Drat!
#37
Whoa there - is anyone seriously handing over their bank account details?????????????

Not me friends.
#38
use Internet Explorer, instead of Firefox or Opera etc., worked for me!

I had lots of trouble on my mac, wouldn't show correctly in Firefox, Safari or Opera.

Worked ok in Internet Explorer on my PC though

And yes, I did hand over my details - it is the Internet, you can trust everyone :)

EDIT: if you don't want to claim travel expences (if you live nearby anyway for example) you don't need to enter them

mmm is this bona fide? It's asking for bank details in order to reimburse travel expenses...the form to fill in doesn't look very professional, is this safe?
