HOW TO DO IT FOR FREE (well perhaps a penny each way)

(I'll try to keep this updated as a sort of quick-start guide)

To find the "free" ones visit http://flightchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/ and search for flights under £1 for the relevant routes, the "free" flights show as 1p each way (yes thats including taxes).

Alternatively click the "Find Lowest Fair" button on the left of the RyanAir home page. Some prices have no taxes, others do... experiment with different dates/times! You may have more luck with "REG FARE" instead of "WEB FARE" for no-tax flights. The no-tax flights are out there - finding them is part of the fun!!!

When booking at RyanAir, on the Passenger Details page

1. Select "0 bags online checkin/priority boarding" as that seems to be free

2. In the drop-down country box change UK to "No Travel Insurance Required"

That should give a grand total of 0.00...

Remember for check-n-go you also need to check-in online for the return flight, if you're only going for a day or one night you can do this before you go otherwise you'll need to find internet access out there (or pay £4 and use the check-in desk coming back). If doing a day trip take into account the airport might be a fair old bus ride from the quoted city (ryanair do tell you about this on the destination pages).

Hint: pay with a debit card and not a credit card for lower charges.

Booking Period: Tue 02nd Oct 07 - Thu 04th Oct 07
Travel Period: Sat 13th Oct 07 - Wed 12th Mar 08
Applicable Days: Mon - Thurs & Sat (subject to availability)
Flight must be purchased: 14 Days in advance
Blackout Period: 19th Oct '07 - 04th Nov '07 to/from UK & Ireland
18th Dec '07 - 08th Jan '08 all routes
08th Feb '08 - 15th Feb '08 to/from UK
15th Feb '08 - 25th Feb '08 to/from Ireland
Notes on this fare: All Holidays, School Breaks and Major Sporting Events are excluded from this offer

Optional Costs
You should be able to go for free, options and their costs are here. If anyone finds out if infants can be carried free please let us know, currently they seem to charge £11 (infant & check-in) extra for infants each way

I have my penny flights to dublin in Nov. 1st time I have used a budget airline. How do I collect these tickets? Do I just go to the airport with the conformation e-mail? Thanks for the help
#3
Is there a limited amount of seats for this period, like the first 1000 seats booked?

What about the October Holidays or weekend flights? Was wondering if these will be available.

Thanks for making me aware of this, will check it out tomorrow.

Heat added ;)

Just turn up at checkin with a printout of the confirmation, you need the reference number given for the order. If you've check-n-go and you only have hand luggage skip check-in and go straight to security.

Budget airlines dont generally allocate seats, its just walk onto the plane and sit where there's an empty seat. With ryanair theres no priority for kids etc, if you want to get on before the rush go for priority boarding.

Boarding is normally in rough order of checkin, in blocks (first 40(??), next 40(??), etc). Some oinks enjoy casually wandering up to the boarding gate and watching the ensuing stampede ages before takeoff!!!

Dont forget any limitations on liquids (toothpaste, spray deoderants, etc) as they wont be allowed on board, and take them in a sealable clear plastic bag or again you'll have to leave them at security!! If the 100ml limit is still in force then remember thats the amount in the container when you bought it, so a half used 200ml toothpaste tube will end up dumped at security. They DO check!

Oh, and it may pay to get drinks/food for the flight in the departure lounge...

Uhm title says "NO TAXES NO FEES NO CHARGES"

So nope, u dont have to pay for taxes (might be a token 1p charge per ticket but that'll be it!!!)

(just tried it, yep NO TAXES!!! and there is a 1p token charge, so its 2p return)

Probably not, only a few seats on each flight are available. I got some flights to dublin from east midlands for 1p each way last time.
Last year they did this, the 1p flights had all gone within the first 10 min but only 80% of the tickets got used.
#15
Great deal - you can travel to quite a few places out of London - not quite as good as the last ryanair sale, but still, you can't go wrong for 1p! Voted hot.
#16
voted hot + rep added thanks
#17
this is a fantastic deal.
few are totally free most good flights you have to pay taxes coming back or so.
but i just booked a return flight for 2 for 26 euros! brilliant!
#18

Mine has £75 worth of taxes added on at the end
#19

It's things like this that I hate about Ryan Air when booking with them:

Please note that unless you are taking advantage of one of our advertised flight offers, which are free of taxes and charges, the below flight costs do not include taxes and charges.

It is never clear which flights are part of their advertised flight offers. The sooner there is legislation which forces them to state the full price of every flight, the better.
#22
if you click through the 1st screen where it shows the taxes - they are taken off at the next bit.
however for some flights/dates you have to pay taxes for one leg of the journey
I just booked dublin to basel for a week - i had to pay taxes for the return flights so the total cost of the return was €13 per person. still an amazing deal!
make sure to select no travel insurance and no luggage to get this price.

There are flights out there that have NO taxes, I found quite a few last night when I looked. Sadly it seems the only way to find out is to add the 1p flight to the basket and see if taxes are shown. The 1p flights (including taxes) are out there just need a little digging for...

But the easiest way is here to visit MSE and search for flights under £1 for the relevant routes

you can't really be mad at ryanair - there are free flights there if you look for them. Plus if it wasn't for ryanair you would be paying so much more in general for flights.
#25
can someone help me please? tried to book flights from stanstead to milan, coming up 1p for 2 adults and £7 each way for an infant. So £14.04 return for all 3 of us. we'd probably take 1 big holdall for the weekend. Never done this before, how does online check in work? I know i'll be charged £4 for 1 bag, but then u have charges depending how u check in?

How do people get the flights without all these charges? or do they just not mention them? *baffled*
#26
when it comes to the booking screen select no travel insurance
and then select online check in
it should then all be 0.00 for the fees - if its not play about with the check in way until you get what you need. also you can bring cabin baggage for free - this is 10kg per person and can be enough for some people for a few days.
online check in works if you are not bringing any bags. see the website. you can check in from 2 days before the flight. you print out your boarding card and then go straight to through security to departures - easy ( but only if you dont have bags)
#27
i've updated the second post in this thread for easy instructions on how to find and book the free flights
#28
just booked glasgow > london for 2pence return :w00t:
#29
thanks cioazammer- will try again.
#30
also has anyone worked out how to get round the £7 infant charge?:-D or is there no way?
#31
oh and how do u get the reg fare? i can't find any option to select this?
#32
ok found Reg Fare, but still:
"Going Out (Reg fare)
2 @ 0.01 GBP 0.02 GBP
Taxes, Fees & Charges details 19.98 GBP

and comes to £20.02 at the end still :-( cold
#33
Are there a limited amount?
I checked on bristol to malpensa and this monring was getting a total of £44 as the outbound flight had no taxes.
Came back to book and now there are taxes shown on the outbound part so it has gone up by £30.

Tried ringing them but after listening to two minutes of messages was given another number to ring which they charge £1 a minute for and was then cut off. Maybe the extra money to go with easyjet is worth it?

Oh yeah, did they increase the cost of baggage again? Now £14 for a suitcase.
#34
they say 0.01p inc taxes and charges, then it says "Taxes, Fees & Charges details 19.98 GBP " 9.99 each person for flying out of stansted?!?!
why when it says the price INCLUDES taxes?
#35
ok seems that every single flight OUT of Stansted incurrs a Tax charge of at least 9.99 per person. god i hate gordon brown, and we didnt even vote him in!

well i manages to book return flights for 2 people for just over £20....
#36
If I book, can they charge me more for anything? for example if I don't turn up for the flight?
#37
There are loads of free flights from stansted, just experiment with different dates/times

Daft I know, infants up to 2 years old seem to have to be checked in and during flight held by you on yer lap (I did australia several years ago like that on a budget airline, was not fun). The price does seem to include taking a collapsable push chair...

http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=chd&quest=infants

No idea on if/how these can be got around...
#39
I am off to Newquay this weekend with my free flights from the last sale.Just booked 6 return flights to Belfast at the end of Jan for 12p.
For those saying there isnt any make sure you write down the applicable travel dates. In short you CANT travel on Fridays or Sundays and only AFTER 12 on a Saturday.Any other time (except the blackout dates) there are PLENTY of flights
#40
Had a thought wont some ppl just buy tickets for the sake of it and may not turn up then ppl who do turn up end up waiting for the missing passengers??
