It's not a text, they e-mail you a link to the download.

might be easier to open the link in your phone . You will need to have 'allow non market place apps' ticked in settings and accept the warning

#16
Crashes back to the homescreen on my Nexus S sadly. :(
#17
I have having the same problem with my HTC Desire HD, just reverts back to the homescreen.
#18
If it's free why does the app need to send sms? (it flags it up under "services that cost you money", when I go to install it)
#19
I get the same crash & burn on my Nexus S running Gingerbread 2.3.4 :| If I can get this sorted, you'll deffo get heat from me!

Could be some sort of "Text my location to a friend" feature.
#21
I can't get it to work either :(
#22
it needs internet access for me to activate, and takes up only internal storage (can't use the sd card)... bummer :(
#23
If you go HERE, it's the navmii NavFree Android support page. People are posting issues on here and the developers can work on fixing them. Might be useful...

They say there's a new release coming out in the next few days to cater for those who have the 'crashing' issue on starting the app (i.e. anyone on Gingerbread 2.3.x it seems....)

I've got this on the iPhone and can't really say that I'm overly impressed.
Rarely seems to find where I am saying "poor GPS", yet the compass and Google maps find me no problem standing in the same spot.
#25
it's a shame copilot is so expensive for the UK.
#26
Great idea, but no good if I can't move it to the SD card.
Heat for the deal though

Edit:
This important info is one their website:
"The First version of Navfree requires a Data connection to search for Address's. This allows you to have up to date access to the latest OpenStreetMap address database. Maps are stored on the iPhone so no data connection is required for map browsing & routing."
I guess this means that if you have a WiFi-only device, then this will be an issue when driving around.

Edit:
As the iOS version is freely available from the creator's web site but the Android version isn't, I presume that this is a beta release. That would explain the bugs and the fact that the app can't be installed to SD . . .

This app doesnt work on Gingerbread. I got it to install perfectly on my Desire HD(2.2). I havent used it for navigation yet. Seems to require a lot of space. The apk file alone was about 60+mb and now the program after install takes about 72mb and then I had to download the maps and postcode pack from within the program.

Not sure I would be downloading anything that is not based in the market direct to my phone based on all of the recent information in the media about how easily they can be hacked to contain all kinds of viruses. I considered whether I may do it in the longer term once things settle with Android OS and application development/availability but actually I figured its not even worth it.

Works well on HTC Wildfire (older model) you need Android 2.2 though.

Only had it 5 minutes but looks very high quality.
