Good way to promote the message!

I meant a wristband, some people are nutters and will hurt / kill anyone wether theres a reason or not,

if someones got a knife on them intending to use it, if there looking for a innocent victim i think wearing one of these, youd more likely to be a target than not wearing one. hmmm
#7
what a waste of money, anybody wearing one of these will prob be bullied :)
#8
How am I going to cut my fruit if you ban knives!!!!!?????:p:p:p

You're gonna be wearing these on your wrists not advertising them to random people on the street, im pretty sure you're not gonna get stabbed.
#12
Whilst I like the idea, I can just see this backfiring and the kids wearing it being singled out by those with knives :S
#13
Yup, wearing this almost certainly means they'll be unarmed. Easy targets
#14
Wearing this does not stop people from carrying knives, rather, it ruins the environment and is a waste of resources, money and time. Voted cold.

Completely agree. Utterly useless crap.
#16
I fail to see how this helps anything. The people carrying the knives will be dissapointed they can't sell your wristband through the GOLD services advertised on telly (my gold is valuable you say?) while you get to wear an uncomfortable wristband that tells fellow like-minded non-knife carriers to not carry knives.

What is the point? To be seen to be doing something?

You could always put it over your thumb and flick it in the eye of someone attacking you with a knife.
#18
Do you actually need a band manufactured to wear to say you're *against* knife crime?
What next - bands against rape and murder? bands against stepping on snails or filling your wheelie bin too high?

Seems pretty meaningless and likely a target for bullies if kids wear them...hardly likely to discourage kids or adults that carry knives and are constantly let off with a warning...
suspended#19
Why would someone get bullied for wearing a wristband????

It's for the kids to show support against knife crime not a target for being stabbed ffs!

It's the same as help for hero's bands, my whole family wore one when my brother was serving in Afghanistan & did we all get blown up for wearing them??

I completely agree. This is just a big ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN and some poor fools on here are being suckered into it hook, line and sinker. What will these bands achieve. Everyone is (or should be) against knife crime anyway. It's just a massive advertising campaign. They even put a URL on the band too - how nice

That's a bit of a stretch wouldn't you say?

One band targets extremists in the local community, while the other targets extremists in another country. I see your logic! :whistling:

Personally, I believe bands should be worn for charities only, such as the RSPCA, Breast Cancer Awareness, or Macmillan Cancer Support. If they're seen, then it might prompt someone to either donate or at the very least research what the band is about.

By your rationale, there should be bands for everything. I might make my own one up... "Never Run With Scissors!!". Just in case someone does, mind. Could prove fatal ;-)

No but it might mean you get refused service in some places

As for these bands, they seem to be a waste of time. I agree that they have their place with charities but not campaigns
#22
Since I started wearing one of these, NONE of my friends have stabbed anyone.

So they clearly work.

Hot!

So, on that basis, the many years you've spent in life without one - you've had to deal with stabbings on a regular?

That has got to be the most retarded comment I've read all day.

That's like me saying since I decided to purchase organic milk instead of the regular kind, I haven't felt the need to commit murder anymore

COLD!

wot another pathetic act by government to actually try and stop crime rather than change the laws and make people afraid to get caught roll on elections and kick this useless lot out who cant handle kids with knives, wot next give the gangs week ends away at centre parcs to calm them?...lol

I will carry on sticking to the Charity Bands as I know I am donating to a good cause while also raising much needed awareness for the charity.

^^ Someone who knows the score. These bands are perfect for supporting charities, like I mentioned in my previous post. At least it's going to a good cause, not like a huge advertisement for a police force.

Have some rep!

Sarcasm's not lost on you is it?

People saying you're more likely to become a victim of knife crime by wearing a wristband?
I certainly didn't get any racial abuse for wearing the "stand up, speak up" wristband, nor did I get bullied for wearing the "beat bullying" wristband...

Does that mean your friends are the kind of people that normally stab someone?

Also, contextually, with bands for heroes/against racism etc. Those who are actively racist/against heroes are less active than those who advocate knife crime. Whilst your principle is right - a band does not necessitate you being more likely to see a certain situation - it can correlate strongly.

It is the very nature of knife crime several of you are missing. It is those feeling aggreived and frustreated that just want the simplest reason to lash out and gain some release - perhaps in the power and pain they inflict. To be racist or against war heroes is more of a specific threat - as a minority of people are eg. heroes or disciminated against racially (not dealing with prejudice but I'm talking about action against) and yet, every single human being faces the risk of being stabbed and not prejudiced/discriminated against for the reasons the other bands advocate. Therefore these bands can only increase a risk. I'm not saying they will. But imagine someone with a knife, who's pretty hacked off, sees someone with the band or without. By attacking the one with a band they get an extra power kick that they've defied that persons message - making them feel more exhalted.

waste of time, money and resources.

Also i wont say no to knives. I carry a knife to use as a tool. All this no to knifes, knives should be banned talk criminalises me when i have and never have had any intentions of using the knife i carry as anything other than a very useful tool.

I would actually like to hear an answer from someone who thinks this band is a good idea...

While i can see this shows those who are against knife crime, how is it actually meant to help? DO you think those who carry knives will see them and then rethink what they do? What positive action do you think these will do?

I agree with the majority, this is just a waste of time and resources... it would actually be better if they charged for them, at least then they would be raising funds to help combat problems. Altho at the end of the day, it is the governments job... i am fairly sure we, as a family, pay enough tax to keep our area policed adequately! :P

Sorry, it turns out these bands DON'T work....... we had an 'incident' last night.......

Increases awareness, my niece loves things like this, but she is only 7!

Why would somebody wear a crucifix or something similar?

To show their belief in something?

These bands (And all other bands i.e bullying) Are just for people to wear to show they believe its wrong to carry knives etc.

I really don't see why people would think that by wearing one, it's gonna make you a target!

I voted hot, my school age son wanted one.
#40
I do not see the point of a wristband.

The police should target those who they feel thru experience will be carrying a knife, yes use profiling, and arrest them and if found in a court of law that they are committing an offence and have the knife for the wrong reasons give them a severe sentence.

But that won't happen the police would rather fall back on this nonsense.

Don't deal with the problem just skirt around it.
