ah shoot - the missis would kill me if i took her to a subbed film. She wouldn't even watch Girl with the dragon tattoo subbed

you could wait for the american remakes-yes they will be crap like all their remakes, but will be in english. dubbing would ruin these movies tbh.

Missed out on tickets for newcastle!! :(

Can't undertstand why a person can't watch a film with subtitles.Have a friend who's like that though. He's just too lazy to read if the truth is known. But it's not like you properly read subs anyway. You more like simply scan it very quickly.

Would like to watch this one as I recently watched the 1st and enjoyed it. Although from all accounts this isn't on a par with the first but still worth a watch.

when my son was younger he didnt like reading and obviously liking television it was always a struggle to try and get him to concentrate on a book so whenever he watched tv and it was available I would turn the volume off and put the subtitles on. I dont mind sub films, would have missed out on a few good ones had i let that stand in my way

Yes, some of the best films I've seen over the last few years have been subtitled. Two that spring to mind were Guillermo Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth and The Orphange.

Genghis was brilliant

also Coco -

took a friend along to see both - didnt tell her they were subtitled as i know she wouldnt have come - but even she had to admit Ghengis was excellent

i prefer dubbing instead of subs so you can actually watch whats going on in the movie and not spend entire time reading whats being said

the dvd of GWDT is dubbed

Entire time?

Usually takes a split second to read a few words. You just glance at them as a whole. Unless people out there read incredibly slowly and still need a ruler to read each word individually.

To be fair the subtitles in the dragon tattoo were white text with very little border / contrast box... as a result during the scenes in the snow (at the mansion near the start of the film) it was white on white and difficult to read... it was the worst subtitling settings ive seen in a long time (compared to say la haine or lives of others) and did detract from the film... still they should have been able to sort it for this release.
