7. In order to receive the Credit, the Customer will have to activate the Product once it has been received by them so that it is operationally available for the Customer (Activation). Activation can be done on the website by visiting www.truphone.com (Website); or by dialling 808; or calling Customer Support on UK 020 3318 0733 and USA 1-646-358-3496.

good offer considering its £5 for free.

Those saying "for emergencies" I just dont get it. in an emergency you phone 999 or 112. This is free and you don't even need a sim card to do this.

I've got to say the roaming rates are darn good though.

$1 a minute to call from the USA to the UK.

By emergency we mean if the car breaks down etc. I keep a phone in my glovebox for just that, and dont think the local police would be too happy with me phoneing them for help with my puncture. . . . . . . .

In my case, I was referring to a situation where my main phone has run out of battery and I need to make a call (not necessarily to the emergency services) and don't want to waste time swapping the SIM out of my main phone to my backup phone.

$1 USA to UK is decent.. Hope it's the same for UK to USA as my friend is going out there soon and it'd be good to have a quick chat now and then. Maybe I should just stick to Skype!

Since the intermediate URL's are from Affiliate Future, I have asked TopCashBack to add this to their choices for Truphone.

Since TopCashBack do not seem to work weekend (who does) do not expect anything to show there until Monday at least.

This info is for those of us that do not want a Quidco account due to their yearly CUMMULATIVE admin fees policy.

I assume it is a Quidco link, and not that of the person posting this deal.

Reputation added and heat, nice post.

Thinking oof getting this as a backup, but spotted this in their T&Cs

14.1 In order for Truphone to provide the Service as a low cost service we may rely on advertising and marketing supplied through the Service and other mechanisms to subsidise the Service. We intend that any such marketing services shall be discreet and of targeted interest to you. By agreeing to this EULA you agree to receive such advertising and marketing information. If you do not want to receive such services you should notify us in writing at [email protected]">[email protected]. Truphone reserves the right to charge you a higher fee for the Service should you choose not to take these marketing services. This higher fee, if applicable, will be posted on the Truphone website.

Hope this doesn't mean a barrage of spam texts and calls as soon as you turn your back up phone on. Has anyone got a activated Truphone sim? Anyone know which network they use?

Not if you use a throw-away email address and give a made-up phone number and don't rely on the free sim for anything important

btw - very useful for those premium-rate competitions

Fortunately the contact number field is not mandatory so you don't have to even give them a made up number and you can always filter out emails from them as spam:)

Thanks, hope it will turn up.

8p to send a text within UK, not bad at all.

Sims with free credit on like these are handy for calling all the 0845 / 0870 numbers that aren't listed on the saynoto0870 site. Saves paying extra on my contract for them

Just received mine this morning and activated it. It took a minute for the credit to show up but I now have £5 on it:thumbsup:
#26
I received my card, activated on their web page, but when I'm trying to check balance it show me that I've got no balance left. Its 2 days already from activation date. So where is £5 credit?:x
#27
I received the SIM and activated it successfully. The balance is shown as £5 ;-)
