Free Sims 2 Upgrade To Ultimate Edition @ Origin

banned2y, 4m agoFound 2 years, 4 months ago
The Sims 2 has lived a long and productive life. It was born, it made lots of friends, it worked at H&M for a period, and now it's ready to retire. In an email sent out to Sims 2 owners, EA claim that the game will "lose technical support" next week, on 22 July. As a concession to the game's owners, all copies registered digitally through Origin will be upgraded to the Ultimate Collection—a complete edition containing every expansion pack and "stuff pack" released for almost 10-year-old game.

"Your current version of The Sims 2 will lose technical support on 22 July 2014," wrote EA in an email, published on NeoGAF. "We want you to have the most up-to-date version of The Sims 2 in your collection, so you will see a brand new addition to your Origin library: The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection."

EA provide more info in a new FAQ page on their site. "The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection is going out to gamers right now," they write. "Everyone who had a digital copy of The Sims 2 will find the Ultimate Collection in their library within the next 5 days."

Hopefully the move will also prompt EA to actually sell the Ultimate Collection, too. The Sims 2 is, of course, a classic—despite its long and bizarre history of expansions—and it seems strange that it's not available for digital purchase.

Good game. Not all that different from the sims 3 and has a lot of good expansion packs to make it better

Yes. If your key doesn't work with Origin speak to support and they will add it to your account.

Just thought you would want this, my convo with EA

Joey
Thanks for contacting EA Customer Experience, my name is Joey Kristian. How may I assist you today?

Joey
Hello buddy! How are you today?

You
hello

You
I have the retail version of the Sims 2. I would like the ultimate collection for the Sims 2. How do I resolve this

Joey
I understand you are inquiring about how to add Sims 2 Retail edition to origin to get Sims 2 Ultimate Edition . Don't worry, since you have me, I will do my best to assist you with this.

Joey
May I have your full name and e-mail address associated to your Origin account?

you
Yeh sure **** **** @ **

Joey
Glad to meet you buddy and thank you for providing that information,Conrad.

Joey
So may I ask, Have you recieved an email from Sims 2 or Origin About this?

You
No but I have seen it online. Ive only got some of the boxed versions of the Sims.

Joey
I see. For this concern, please read this article for me.
http://help.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-2-ultimate-collection-faq/

Joey
This basically means that those who have the digital copy of the game are the ones that will get the ultimate collection
But I guess, the best thing that I could suggest us just to set proper expectation is to wait for the 22nd of July for EA's possible announcement.

Joey
We could not add or replace Sims 2 code for retail version at the moment. The reason that we could not add the physical code is because Sims 2 was created before Origin. Thus the code will not be accepted by the Origin Client. So therefore, we still need to wait for the update from Maxis on the 22nd of July how to add it since you have a retail version. Once we will have an updated, we will post it on our EA HELP.

You
Oh so it will be available for everyone?

Joey
We will just need to wait for the update about that one since Maxis about it.

Joey
And Probably, the ultimate collection would also be available for those who have the physical copy of the game. However, for now, we haven't received any instructions from EA on what to do about this.

You
Oh ok. I'll wait then. Ive got almost everything but not all the stuff packs.

It's a shame that my copy of the Sims 2 didn't come with the manual. Hearing about this is a fantastic deal
#9
Contacted customer service with my Sims 2 key and got a copy of the Double Deluxe edition for some reason. Haven't heard anything about the ultimate edition though.

Ultimate Edition comes through in a few days. You need to have the Double Deluxe so they can upgrade it.

how is it even possible for someone to register TS2 on Origin anyway? I tried my neighbours copy not so long ago, but it wouldn't go through

Now surely this belongs in Deals and not Freebies, as you can't have it without buying The Sims 2 (either in the past, or now)?

Nice of EA to give away all the updates now that they are done with supporting the product.

Wherever the mods decide to place it is fine by me :)

I have the really old physical version of The Sims 2 (came with 4 CDs, not a DVD) and my serial key wouldn't work with Origin so I contacted them yesterday using the live support thing. They gave me a key for the "Double Deluxe" version, so now I'm just waiting for it to be upgraded.

EA doing something nice for once! :S

Do you just need the serial code? I have the manual but only have three discs (lost disc 1) so can't install it.

Yeah, should do :)

I put in my serial number into Redeem Product Code and it says that it's invalid. Am I doing it right, or is the code just too old?

Thanks! Contacted support, gave them my email and code for the Sims 2, they asked me a security question, and then gave a code to the Ultimate Edition. Quick, painless and I've got all of the stupid number of Sims 2 expansions! :D

Spoke to support and this is what they said
"Gene: I will be glad to help you with your Sims 2 concern. All we need is to see the screenshot or the image of your Sims 2 manual or the Physical disc.
Gene: Here's how you may send the file or image to us:
Gene: -Log in to the Customer Portal at help.ea.com.
-Locate the open case underneath the "MY CASES" section.
-The “My Cases” section can be found on the right-hand side of your screen.
-Open the current case you wish to attach a file to.
-Scroll down to "BROWSE FILE."
-Choose the file you wish to attach and select "Open."
-Be sure to write a note in the white box above the Browse File and Add Note buttons.
-Click "Add Note" to attach this file successfully."

But I cannot for the life of me find the my cases section. is the UK and US website the same?

Have no idea but i would contact them again and get somebody who will give you the game. As always with support it depends on if you get an agent willing to help you.

Perfect. Had to provide an alternative to the security question that i could not remember, but other than that, it went perfectly. Now I don't need to buy all the expansions and stuff packs ever again :)

I think this is what you need to do:

Click Manage your account.
Click My Conversations.
Click the relevant help topic.
Click Attach Files.

I'm waiting in the queue to see if they can help me. My daughter has the original 4 cd edition and 7 expansion packs already but it will be helpful to have it on Steam if nothing else.
