I wondered why it was still working!

Looks like it might be the Sky Mobile service too as this is still working for me!

It wasn't free unless you had multiroom I believe, they did a free thing til 10th Jan which has now been extended. Think it costs £5 per month to activate Sky Player if you're not a mulitroom or Sports subscriber.

It was. If they change it so Sky Player has to be paid for then its just a good job illegal sports streams are everywhere these days. Either that or Virgin media will get a few more customers.

Be careful, the Sky Mobile service will charge automatically from the trial that just ended unless you turn it off. I havn't seen anything yet to say that it has been extended..

aaaah free if you have multiroom or sky broadband unlimited

Sky Mobile should be free for all customers on the top package - as a reward for loyalty

Agreed.
Still, at least they've extended this offer for another 6 months.
#12
So Sky Mobile has not been extended? I cancelled mine as the free offer expired on 10/1/11
#13
Is sky player always free if you are a sky world subscriber ?

loyalty means nothing to sky.....only profit.

Hmmn, I thought this deal was about mobile, not player.
Just tried mobile, and it's still working. I definitely set the subscription to not renew, so hopefully mobile is also extended.

What's the Sky Mobile offer?

Sky Player is free until June, but I can't find anything anywhere to say that Sky Mobile TV is still free until June too!! Help?!?
#23
I've looked previously on the online billing portal - how can I make sure I don't get billed for Sky Mobile? It's worked great through the free trial and continues to do so now.
#24
So to clarify, if you have Sky Movies 1 & 2 but you don't have multiroom or sky broadband (which isn't even available here) soon you won't be able to use the sky player to watch Movies on demand?

If that's the case I'm going to seriously consider dropping Sky Movies and signing up to Love Film instead, then I can at least stream stuff through the PS3 and it will be cheaper too.

I've just looked at my payments on sky and it says the mobile tv expires on 20/1/2011. To stop it you just have to select 'Stop Auto Renew'.

There isn't one at the moment I'm afraid, although people are saying that the free period still seems to be working for them.

How have you come to this conclusion?

As far as I know and I'm basing this on a conversation I had with Sky when I cancelled Sky Player before. The on-demand stuff is available as long as you've got the corresponding channels on tv. This thread is specifically for the live tv part of Sky Player which they have made free to Sky Sports subscribers. If you subscribe to Sky Movies you can stream the movie channels and watch the on demand movies without having to subscribe to multiroom or broadband unlimited.

Thanks. So what was the original offer and when did it run out? Was it free limited period Sky Mobile to any subscriber?

I'm a Sky customer but this is the first I've heard of it and now it's run out :(

I've looked previously on the online billing portal - how can I make sure I don't get billed for Sky Mobile? It's worked great through the free trial and continues to do so now.

I went into the account details within the app - and there is an auto-renew button. If you deselect this you will not be charged. I logged a call with Sky via their website and had a response stating the same - below:-

Dear Mr X

Thank you for contacting Sky regarding the Sky Mobile TV.

I can advise that the auto renew facility on your subscription has been cancelled and your current subscription will expire on 23/01/2011 and no payments will be taken.

I trust this information helps, however, should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact our team on 08442 411 531 or by replying to the above email address.

Kind regards

Steven

With regards the Sky Player - I have had real problems with this. I left it running downloading half a dozen movies which all completed OK, and then when we came to watch them on a netbook whilst on holiday - most of them came up with an error. Can't recall what it was, but when I checked at the time it was something to do with a data issue.

Not so impressed with this service - glad I am not paying for it.

Ok, when I said Sky Player in those comments I was referring to the Live TV part of it as I assumed (incorrectly) people knew they could watch on-demand programmes as long as they had the relevant tv pack.

I think it was available to Sky Sports subscribers (I may be mistaken) and ran from July (ish) to end of December which they extended to include the end of the Ashes and has now ran out.

How have you got Sky Player? Are you a Sky TV subscriber or Sky Player only?
