Voted hot, although feel a contradiction, in that we are trying to stop Global Warming! LOL

I'm in Yorkshire and I applied last time this was on HUKD - got a pack which included 2 energy saving light bulbs, top trump cards and other stuff
#4
Might sound silly but I'm glad to get the timer. I used one is Australia at the beginning of the year. Helps you stop daydreaming while showering and get on with the job.

Thanks for the post!

But common sense goes a long way - just think and and switch things off or use less water, or walk instead of driving, ask yourself does what I do require energy ( electricity, gas) if so can i do without it.

I dont need stickers to make my house and car look *****.

On another point - even if we all walked to workfrom now on and used public transport for everything and had no cars, with the likes of US, CHINA, India, etc etc dumping millions of tons of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere we are all f##cked.

Im not saying we should stop recycling im just saying we are a small cog in the process of global warning.

Rant Over

Agree with the small cog part, but if we do something ie recycle more etc,at least something is better than nothing....:)

'Global warming' is a part of nature. It's been happening for millions of years (hotter/colder/wetter/dryer etc etc) and for people to think we can change it is just arrogance. The whole Co2 thing is an unproven theory...a bandwagon for people with too much time on their hands to jump on, and something for people to make money from. Don't get sucked in by the hype.
Still...I've ordered a kit. Voted hot.

Oh my oh my.... :o

Doesn't mean we have to waste so much and accelerate the whole effect of global warming....
Maybe you should be telling that to those who are already facing the consequences...!!!

I've tried for this even though I live in herts. Got the one containing light bulbs last time. Just use your address with a made up london postcode.

There is absolutely no proven evidence to support that. It's all speculation just like the ozone layer depletion and the ice age we were facing 15 years ago
Yes we should recycle, but only to avoid it going into unsightly landfills. The down side is that recycling stuff uses a lot more energy than working from the raw materials...Doh! :giggle:

so you'll be waiting for hard evidence before you really start changing your habits? even if the current climate change is completely natural, we should all strive to reduce our personal impact on the environment. Fact is we are changing the amount of various gases in the atmosphere, and Fact we are destroying what has naturally formed through over millions of years through processes that are contantly striving to reach perfect equlibrium.

As for recycling taking more energy, energy is limitless, some of the raw materials being used have taking hundreds, thousands, even millions of years to come to be, and once they are gone, they are gone

I wonder how much more evidence people need!!!
Maybe when the gas/oil reserve dries out, when we face more of the climate conditions as some other countries are and when we come to realise that, although it might not strike us hard in our life time, it will be hard on our children...
but maybe thats not enough!
Maybe we should help to destroy all the natural beauties in the world. destroy the amazon forest because who cares abt the research that shows how much rain the amazon attracts and the whole natural cycle attached to it.
Who cares that, facts show that our emissions are helping to heat up the planet faster and its impact the ice cap and water level....
But maybe the problem is a lot of people don't value what they have until they lose it.
Pffff...who cares abt all tht! lets just bloody use them all up and leave behind us a world that looks more like a warzone than how we remember it...
#16
what - no light bulbs?? That sucks :p

I agree. Regardless of whether global warming is due to carbon emissions or not, we should surely leave just a little bit of these natural resources over for fuure generations.

#26
has anybody got theirs yet?
i live in greater london but no sign of it yet
#27
I went to a phone repair/unlockers place last week.

A good 2 squaremeters on the wall was covered, with 4way, 6 way, 8way plug extensions, with shelfs underneath them all ON and all with mobile chargers on and draining away, only a fraction with phones plugged in, why haven't mobile manufactures brought out chargers which only drain the leccy supply with a phone plugged in? eh?

I wonder if Greenpeace will be protesting outside their door soon.

Technology providing far more efficient standby and automatic off systems is what help leccy bills and usage, not trying to browbeat people into switching stuff off and into habits they want them to adopt.
#28
I received mine!

BUT no Top Trumps...there was a mug inside my package though...and some booklets and stickers...
