I have been using this for a while now. It works best on popular items and the more obscure something is the less chance you have of it finding a cheaper version but for most things like TV's and DVD's etc it is brilliant.

Of course it is missing the point. I am letting people know about a bit of FREE software that automatically tries to generate cheaper prices than whatever you are looking at. That happened to be the last thing I looked at. It does not force you to buy it just gives you the option of looking at a potentially better deal. I have edited that deal out now in case other pedants get side tracked too.

Why is this being voted cold? -What are the views on the product?

If the first couple of people vote cold then very often the sheep will follow suit. Most of them won't even look at the offer/deal in question.

Very true. Was a DS deal on here for £65 OOS everywhere @ Argos and still got mid 150's oO

is this any different than using all the online price comparison sites (some of which pay you quidco) other than having to install a bit of unwanted software (which may or may not be riddled with spyware, not that I am saying this software is)????

its a huge bandwidth / resource hog so watch out

Vastly different. You have to take the time to go to these sites. This just pops up if it sees something on the page that it finds. Very often it will just confirm that the price you are looking at is the best but very often you will find a better price elsewhere. You can still use quidco. Just check out the site and judge for yourself about how virus free it is likely to be.

doesnt work for all sites e.g. tesco, richer sounds...

useful to know though. it will get better once they have a bigger search scope.

regardless - nice tool though.

Isnt it just a bit of a con tool, if you purchase after they find the site, they will get the cashback for the sales. So if you use it, make sure you clear cookies before getting the item via quidco etc.

Thanks for the headsup. Maybe use it in firefox and then go quidco via chrome. Saves haveing to clear cookies is you dont want too. :)

People like me who use quidco will still use quidco (and you should always clear cookies as quidco sometimes plays up if you don't) those that don't use cash back sites won't give a monkeys if they manage to get something out of it. Invisible hand is not the second coming but it has saved me money. I thought that others here might find it handy too.

Wow what a lot of rubbish in the comments. This is only to help you decide with little effort if you are on a page and see a product - think its a good price and then you can compare with others.

For example, you use hduk - you click link and see it is actually cheaper else where. You may have just bought it without even thinking about looking for alternatives. This gives quick and simple way to do it.

I'm with goonertillidie on this one. If the thread is titled "Free Software For Getting The Best Prices Possible" then I would expect the software to do just that. Not voting it cold, but not voting it hot either.

This sounds like a good weapon in the battle to get the best deal possible that is why I gave you some heat. I do, however, agree with this quote above and I do not believe that he missed the point because if it brings back Pixmania as the best price when it clearly isn't then it has it's limitations and should only be used in conjunction with comparision sites such as idealo etc.

It should be noted that InvisibleHand only compare prices from retailers/sellers who have actually enrolled with them and who offer them a commission for items purchased.

It is therefore obviously in their interest to push certain retailers ahead of others so that they can obtain a higher commission fee, now the fact that they can do so does not mean they are doing so, but it should be bourne in mind and InvisibleHand should be just one of several methods to use in price camparision.

Use this all the time

Heat added :)

This thing is probably the best addon invented for me, been using it about 3 months now and its saved me so much, heat for spreading the word.
#30
Good but only searches the bigger players, still handy tho :3

Anything that assists me in saving money is Hot from me...thanks presterjohn71.
#32
thanks, still trying to get it to work, love saving money

Having read reviews from sites I respect this does look like useful addon. My problem with it is I've been to dozens of sites over the last few days and it only popped up once that this deal was the best (on amazon) It has popped up deals that were completely unrelated to what I was looking at.

I'll continue to trial run it but its not looking good as an addon that will stay installed for long.

As far as the sites I've been visiting, they include most of the big retailers from the real world and the big online stores. No weird niche sites.
#34
Invisible Hand is not a Con Tool because it takes a commission - how do you think the internet works? If you go from one site to another a commission will be paid on your sale. They are providing a service - do you not think it reasonable they get paid for it?

My gripe with the Invisible Hand is I downloaded it into Chrome and it didn't work.

Working fine for me with Firefox 3.6.16 - useful add-on. Has anyone got it to work with Firefox 4?

doesn't seem to work with Firefox 4

Works fine with my FF4

This is potentially a massively important tool for online shopping, however, the database is very limited. Example: I did a search on google for "Need For Speed Most Wanted" (a video game), clicked on "Shopping" and ordered in price (Low-to-high), clicked on cheapest one available and went to the site - the add-on didn't pop up with "This is the best price" or anything (in fact nothing).

That said - useful, if not limited in search capability.

Will be using it and voted hot
