The NHS have just launched a new scheme to try to help people who have decided to give up smoking as part of their new years resolution!

What's inside the quit kit

Take a look inside.

* Fun and inspirational materials to help you find your best way of stopping.
* Support, advice and details on all the support options available.

Any way of helping people stop smoking is good, especially when its free. I hope this helps someone quit =)

Even if it is, this freebie could save a life, better than a squirt of perfume on a piece of card!
#4
its the worse time of year to give up. would love to see what their idea is of funways to help
#5
You get, amongst other things...

a sort of toy which is proven to relieve stress when played with
2 calming mp3's which are proven to reduce cravings
a wall chart and stickers so you can plot your progress
yes, leaflets
a few other bits.

if it can help save a childs parents life then its got to be a good thing!

LOL, some people on here are just impossible to please. It is FREE and it is something that can help save lives. Its not just leaflets, which you would know if you took time to actually read the website. A free sample of aftershave or something that can help people improve their lives... hmm, i know which i would prefer!

 absolutely agree

if you don't have the will power to quit and would rather suck on something a lot less harmful, switch to e-cigs.

Smokin' hot deal.

This should help smokers if my campaign to stop people smoking within 50 feet of building entrances takes off! It can be like running the gauntlet as you hold your breath. :whistling:

As the decade changes, what better time to quit - smoking is so last year!

Free? FREE??? Define "free". The last time I checked, the NHS was funded by us tax-paying mugs who work for a living. You're saying that someone who pays £5 per pack wouldn't be willing to shell out a couple of quid to "improve their lives"? They're really committed to quit, aren't they? Besides, it's a guilty pleasure of mine to watch someone (especially my coworkers) stand out in the freezing rain to have a cig.

I`m a non smoker but I live near the Metro Centre Gateshead and I reckon i get more pollution from the cars going there nose to tail at this time of year than from smokers...

By the time the pack arrives in the post it'll be New Year, just in time for all those resolutions to start:)

I've recently stopped smoking myself, haven't had a cigarette for nearly 4 weeks now, feels great:thumbsup:

Well done you.

I have to agree. These mickey mouse kits cost us millions and are next to useless. Dish out proper treatment on prescription is what I say (Champix etc). Incredibly hard to get on the NHS

Haha get a life ffs, no smoking within 50 feet of building entrances, so only allowed to smoke in fields then? Or is that bad for the sheep
#25
Heard it was only available in England, but have applied from Scotland, so here's hoping. Ta

Just ordered one for my daughter. Might just do the trick. :giggle:

Zyban - its the only way, takes away the craving a treat. Side effects are its like speed so you dont sleep much, bit of a dry mouth and dreams are like technicolour TV. So no real drawbacks then...

God I hate the anti-smoking brigade...... haven't you got something better to do than being self rightous..... go and do yoga or something.

I was pleased to see that as i am a smoker trying to quit that free support was given, however i ordered the pack when this was first posted and yet to have my pack.
