Free test drive on Citroen DS5 for 24 hours

Citroen are giving a 24 hour test drive on their rather nice lookin DS5 model. I. Just booked this for this wkd and must say was really nice drive and pretty looking. Only needed my driving licence, even though when booking the operator did say I need a credit card for excess but they didn't ask for it.
So just fill out the form and then await the phone call from Citroen. They rang of an 0800 number the following day.

Hoping people are only doing this if they are interested in buying a car.

Why? It's a test drive.

The point of a test drive is if your looking for a new car at the end of a drive you should be ready to say Yes I like it lets go ahead or No i dont like it because of X Y or Z and you go for another car.

Otherwise your just wasting Citroen's time and money.

I bet you're a great laugh on a night out LOL!!

Gonna take it for a 24 hour test drive and park it outside my house on my GF's birthday and tie a ribbon around it, then surprise her with it. She's gonna be gutted when she finds out it has to go back.

Its Citroen's responsibility to make YOU the consumer want to buy the car. Anyone that test drives the car is a potential customer IF the car is a good car.

I booked this through Citroen UK last time it was advertised, had a lengthy conversation with customer services to run through all their questions for insurance, etc. A few weeks later I tried phoning the dealer in Sheffield to confirm pick up and see if I could leave my car with them. It took about 5 calls to even speak to someone, and when I did they asked me to email the details as they had no record of it, I eventually after a few more phone calls got told that the only DS5 they had was the managing directors and wouldn't be available. I've never come across any company going out of their way to NOT sell their product, you'd have thought they'd be jumping on leads for the DS5, it's a bit of a hard sell.

No mile limit was mentioned.
The car was on reserve diesel when I got the car.
After speaking to the operator on the phone I got an email confirming the date and time. I rang the dealers and asked if I could leave my car, which I could so no problem.

Not really. There are those who do not intend to buy at all, but may be swayed into buying if it's better than what they are currently driving... or not driving.

Just for info, most dealerships will let you have a car for up to a whole weekend if they think your;

1. A possible buyer
2. not gonna drive to france in it
3. not gonna cruise around town with drum n' bass blowing the speakers

;)

You are test driving a vehicle, nothing more, nothing less. As for wasting their money, can't see how unless you calculate the tiny amount of admin required for you to pick up the vehicle and the extremely slight depreciation of the vehicle from the masses of miles you are likely to wrack up. You will pay for the fuel.

Besides, even if you are not looking to buy you may drive one and tell friends/family how about them. Word of mouth is very good for business.............................as long as you have a good product in the first instance.

Don't agree. Do you know how expensive advertising especially on TV is? After your test drive you are bound to speak to your friends and family members about it and each time you mention their name in your conversation it must be worth at least £5 to Citroen. Large companies have big advertising budgets and this must be one of the cheapest methods to advertise. They are not stupid!

And I think you'll find that the purpose of this section of HUKD is to get free stuff.

No intention of ever buying a Citroen but I like free stuff.

So there.

Did they call you from a 0800 number? I missed a call from such a number. I doubt I will get to do the test drive though, as an offer like this asks for a bit of effort from the dealers, and I can't imagine a dealer bothered to move this as$ more then absolutely needed to survive.
#33
Yep they ring of an 0800 number. But don't worry I missed the first call from them but they rang back the following day.
