Donington Park hosts one of Britains largest international motorsport events featuring a massive showcase of Renault cars past and present at the 2007 World Series by Renault meeting on 8th/9th September. A crowd of more than 92,000 flocked to the Derbyshire venue last year and following a hugely successful event, expectations are high in 2007.
On track, the racing action is headlined by the 425bhp Formula Renault 3.5 cars in World Series FR3.5, which features the best drivers from Europe and around the World looking to break into Formula One in the manner of 2005 champion Robert Kubica. The other two series to regularly accompany these stunning cars are the Eurocup Mégane Trophy and Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0.

The UKs leading national-level series, the Formula Renault UK with Michelin Championship and ELF Renault Clio Cup, also act as support races at Donington Park. The weekend serves as an opportunity for the brightest British-based talent to display their ability to a wider audience.

Together with a parade of Renault collectors cars, the highlight for many is two exhibitions each day by ING Renault F1 Team. French test driver Jonathan Cochet will be at the wheel of the teams FIA Formula One World Championship-winning R26 racer. There will also be a demonstration of several Renault-linked historic F1 cars.

Check out our Renaultsport road car line-up, try our F1 simulators, enjoy the free Fun Fair and see the Renault Innovation Zone. Renault Aftersales brands, Renault Minute, Rapide Bodycare, Ixtar and Renault Insurance, will entertain the crowds with displays, games and prizes. F1 fans also have the perfect opportunity to purchase the new Renault F1 Team merchandise.

Free tickets are due to become available on Monday, 21st May at http://www.worldseriesbyrenault.com or telephone 0845 6033 427 (local rates apply).

I've been to this the last two years. For a free day out it can't be beaten, although you may want to take earplugs for the World Series race, loudest thing i have ever heard!!

I'm surprised they're letting the french bloke drive the F1 car again though, he was rubbish last year and put it in the gravel!!

It's pretty easy to get tickets too, if the last couple of years is anything to go by.

Someone should bump this on 21st May, so we all remember to apply...

Cant wait to book on the 21May!

Hi, how did you know that it is available on 21st? I looked on the website and couldn't find a link that said this. Thanks.

I went to this one last year with 2 of my uncles... Absolutely fantastic weekend! We stayed in a nice little hotel about 20 minutes away from the track.

The track is pretty big. Theres one spot which is mobbed so get there quick (8 to 9-ish). It's the big grassy slope beside the big metal statue thing. Theres loads of food stands - ice cream, burgers, chicken, coffee, and even some pubs for the lads. Prices not too good but never are at these events.

There's a load of stands around which house some of the cars (smaller F cars, the meganes etc), and then there's the pit babes which strut around all day...

Motor racing + booze + sacantilly clad women... Enough reason for any red-blooded male to go :P

Here's a few (poor) pics from last year...gorgeous day by the way.

You've got the wrong year!!
The French Bloke who put it in the gravel was Rene Arnoux and that was two years ago when it was raining heavily. Jonathan Cochet was excellent last year doing burnouts and really showing what a modern F1 car can do. A brilliant day out with the next generation of F1 drivers doing their stuff. Robert Kubica was there two years ago and his performance in the World Series got him his drive with BMW Sauber.

jonfev, last year the F1 driver stalled the car halfway round the track, at the bit where I was talking about earlier (with the statue thing). There was a few funny moments with the meganes though... One of them completely cut the massive corner - the one closest to the airport.
#16
Bump ready for tomorrow - have been for the last two years and it is the most amazing freebie event. The weather last year was fantastic.

is it donington park in derby?

It's very close to Derby - the racing circuit is right next to the East Midlands airport.
#20
If you get the train to nottingham train station you can catch the skybus to the airport and walk accross to donnington.
#21
It says no more tickets on the website, yet still allows you to apply?

I've applied anyway ...

I think that just means it's not tickets this year, it looks like a pass you wear around your neck (look at the pic).
I've ordered 4, says will arrive in the next 4 wks. Don't know what day though!:p
#23
For the last 2 years tickets arrived just a few weeks before - may be a change of policy in getting them out early.
Wonder how long before these start appearing on EBay? I wrote to the organisers last year to bring it to their attention so I hope they will be clamping down on it.
#24
Been to Donny a few times in the past but haven't been for a few years. Can you still drive cars into the infield and park up for a picnic on the banking?
