Free movie screenings of the new British film Slumdog Millionaire will be held at the Himalaya Palace Cinema in Southall, on Sunday 7 December 2008.

The free screening is part of a seefilmfirst initiative to support local cinema and home grown creativity by giving something back to the community. It is working with Pathe Film who has already had rave reviews from its screening at the London Film Festival.

About the Movie

Slumdog Millionaire is the latest offering from one of Britain's most versatile directors Danny Boyle and based on Vikas Swarup's best selling novel. It tells the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" Arrested on suspicion of cheating, he tells the police the incredible story of his life on the streets, and of the girl he loved and lost. But what is a kid with no interest in money doing on the shows? And how is it he knows all the answers?
