I got caught out a while ago when i bought my friend some 'cheap' tomato seeds in a tub which was a little windowsill propogator... one of the worst presents to buy someone!

We are now about 2 months dowen the line and i've had to fork out for pots, compost, tomato feed, mini tomato greenshouses, tools to plant them, canes and various other bits and bobs.

So what did orginally cost me 12p in tesco, has actaully ended up costing me close to £70-80...

Moral of the story, dont give seeds away as presents, and only get them if you have most of the stuff you require already! If you don't, its much cheaper to pop to Tesco and get a packet of tomatos, fully grown, and ready to slice dice and eat!

All you needed was a pack of canes 1.29 from home bargains, 10 litres of compost £1-2, a bucket from b&q £1.50 which you drill holes in the bottom, some plant/tomato food £1 from poundland and finally a bit of patience and ruthless thining! total cost £5.79ish for approx 3 plants which will well and truly double that in worth for delicious home grown tommys!

Totally agree, but we ended up with 15 seeds which were all grown at once, 3 different variations! We wanted the best toms so i agreed to buy the stuff... thought it would be nice and cheap but nope :(

I've definately learnt my lesson!

AT work at the moment so I cant access the link. But if I remember rightly you have an option of 1 packet or more. But the more was just for schools etc.. Is it possible to get more for personal use or will I have to get separate accounts to all get the 1 pack?

If it is a multiple account thing, I'll just stick with 1 ;)

My dad said that. he grows tomatos for years now, and he said its not really easy to grow as you need that much stuff!, for a easy item to grow, why not gove away carrotts, or something. tomatos need watering everyday, and feeding, and side shoots taking out, its time consuming!, definately not a easy to grow item for kids

Seems a rather odd promotion. If I had my own home-grown tomatoes available I'd be buying Dolmio sauces much less often!

Tomato seeds need planting by end of March or the resulting fruits don't ripen in time. My seeds from the last time these were in stock are still only 10 inches tall (grown indoors on sunny windowsill).

I think so, unless it for a school x

To order more seeds as an individual you'll need to logout and complete the Registration form again with a new username.

I think every time you complete the form you get more seeds :)
