---------------------
You can get free unlock code from T mobile.

All you need to do it write to them as the following address:
Subpin Team
T-MobileUK
Customer Administration
6 Camberwell Way
Doxford Technology Park
Sunderland
Tyne and Wear
SR3 3XN

Include your Handset make & model (eg. Nokia 6120 Classic)
Your unique IMEI number (press *#06# on your phone to get this)
Also include a contact telephone number and your name & address (or alternatively, your email address).

Hopefully that should save some of you some searching & more importantly, money!!

Does it work for T-mobile phones that are now out of contract, and if you now have no dealings with T-mobile?

Hot anyway.

If it is becoming the law - I wonder what mobile company will be the last to do it?

My money would be on Orange or VIrgin.

T-Mobile will unlock ANY PHONE THAT IS LOCKED TO THEIR NETWORK , as long as your prepared to pay £15 and wait up to 28 working days this cannot be done over phone but you can just call through to customer services and they will send email to SUBPIN SERVICES for you , i know this info is correct as i am a T-Mobile Trainer working in the uk contact centres

I sent a letter in the post to the above, and included my email address in the letter. On Wednesday they sent me an email with a code, which did not work. I replied Wednesday night, and Friday morning they sent me a new code which worked. I have about 6 months left on my contract.

And yes, it was absolutely free.

What was the email address? I assume we could email instead of snail mail and therefore possibly speed up the process.

Does any one know if PAYG phones are included in this?

Is what I got told from T-Mobile - I didn't write to that address though.

Also got told they can deduct the £15 from your actual account credit as payment. That was for payg, dunno about contract.
