Hi All,

Thought i'd put this together for all the potential new Oculus owners who have just splashed out £399.
Once you have setup your equipment and Oculus accounts the following should be free in their store:

Robo Recall

Dragon Front

Luckys Tale

Rec Room

Oculus Medium

Oculus Quill

Big Screen

Echo Arena - not until later in July

ToyBox

Mission ISS

Farlands

Google Earth

Disney Movies VR

Mountain Goat Mountain

Oculus Dreamdeck

Minecraft Windows 10 Ed

Google Blocks

The head over to steam and get the following:

War Thunder

The Lab

AltSpace

Nvidia VR Funhouse

Skeet Vr Shooting

Hopefully that should be enough to get you up and running. Then you can move on to Superhot, Space Pirate Trainer, Star Trek Bridge etc :)

Hope this helps

Forgot you also get

Dead and Buried

Nice one @hitman2411 appreciate that and I'm sure all the other new owners will. Thanks.

Does anyone know if I would get the freebies if I buy a new Rift when I currently have a DK2 with existing Oculus Home account?
#3
Great post. Looking forward to Echo Arena, looks like it should be fun.

You should be able to use some of the free stuff now on your DK2. Luckys Tale, Dreamdeck and Farlands definitely worked when I tried them on a DK2. I think Oculus Home only checks that you have Oculus hardware attached.

It 'should' I believe it does a hardware check to validate the free games

Buy From scan and get free next day with Eve valkyrie as well
#6
Can anyone verify this? I can't find any sources for this. Not even from oculas themselves?
#7
Do you also get this with the Samsung VR headsets which are Oculus powered?

CV1 arrived from Scan. All the free titles were already added to my Library when I setup the CV1 on the same account I used on my DK2. The Echo Arena beta has been extended to the 17th as well.

The install is a pain. I hadn't setup my DK2 since I upgraded my PC a little while back. Couple of tips:

- If the Oculus setup is complaining about windows update KB's not being installed even though you do have them installed you can bypass the checks. In a command prompt run: OculusSetup.exe /bypassHotfixCheck

- I had to disable one of my graphics cards and reboot in order to get past the driver version check screen.

Other than that so far so good. Seems far more comfortable than the DK2 and the tracking seems greatly improved. I'm not convinced the display is that much better. I am however very impressed with the touch controls after the intro demo way more immersive than using a controller.

Now I just need to move more stuff out of the way while all the games download so I can increase my play area :D .

@hitman2411 You missed these 2 which seem to be included:

Dead and Buried
The Unspoken

Driving games would be Project Cars or Assetto Corsa, they should both work with rift, get them on Steam (possibly wait until they discounted again). Not sure about flying games, havent tried any as yet

Dirt Rally and Project Cars are both fantastic in VR. You might be able to pickup Dirt Rally cheap as it's been in a Humble Bundle. Project Cars 2 is out in September so there should be even deeper discounts on Project Cars.

Elite Dangerous is good for sim space flight but it's difficult to read text or see things that are far away due to the low resolution of the headset. Even simple things like flying into a space station are jaw dropping though.

Overload is great for more arcadey 6DOF combat. It's still in early access but there is a free demo that works in VR. I highly recommend checking it out.

I've seen IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad recommended for old school dogfighting but I haven't played it yet.

For all games check out isthereanydeal.com to get an idea of prices and when the last sale was. Also try to buy on Steam if you can, they'll work fine with the Oculus and your games won't be trapped in the Oculus ecosystem if you change headset later.

1st off lets get it out there you HAVE to get Elite Dangerous.

Assetto corsa is also a must....

pCARS a maybe (i love the go-karts) - make sure you buy on steam however, much healthier online.

ETS2 / ATS worth a look if you like a slower paced trucking "experience".

edge of no where, pinball fx vr, defence grid 2 VR, sports bar VR, retro arcade neon, eleven table tennis, thrill of the fight all worth looking into.

as is arizona sunshine,

then on top. doom 3 BFG is a no brainer (i think i paid £3 on g2a)! using fan made mod (i will paste in link later)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cgwes2c_KK4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83kdr7D-DJ0

portal 2 has a free VR short - 10 levels or so - if you own the normal game

i have around 60 vr titles and to be honest all i have no regrets on.

coming soon is halflife 2 vr - free if you own HL2 / HL2 EP1+2 OR the orange box.
rumours are alien isolation also getting fan made vr patch soon.

Overload looks like a carbon copy of Descent that I played as a kid!

It's no accident, it's from the same people:D . It's not called Descent as they don't own the rights to the name anymore. I've only played the demo so far as I don't want to spoil the main game by playing it early but it seems to be shaping up nicely.

This actually looks like fun. Gonna give it a try.

I recommend this setup guide on reddit for setting up the Oculus sensors. Having two sensors opposite each other on a diagonal is way better for stuff like Robo Recall and Echo Arena. With both sensors setup in front like Oculus suggests I unsurprisingly kept losing tracking whenever I turned around.

Robo Recall now supports full room scale so getting a third rear sensor for £59 is highly adviseable :)

Does it get rid of the annoying "Turn around to face the sensor" warning? My play area is only really 1.8x1.8 m so 2 ceiling mounted sensors work quite well. The only places I get any jitters is in a couple of corners where I'm dangerously close to hitting something anyway. But if a 3rd sensor gets rid of the warning message it might be worth it :D .

Yes it will, plus it means you get full room scale on all other support games

Hmm. May have to then :D . Although given the number of things I've punched so far I can probably just wait until I inevitably need to get another set of motion controllers!

Just going to add this here:

It's been announced that Echo Arena will be available for free for people who add it to their Oculus account in the first 3 months upon release. Anyone who doesn't would need to pay for it after the first 3 months

Amazing that you have so mucghfree VR to try when you get your headset, great stuff.

Now if only i could find a lense protectors and some kind of face mask to put over the foam, this would be 100% perfect.

For anybody interested they have some bundles at the moment which work out around 50% off:

https://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift/

I ordered the £39.99 one, all games reviewed well, SuperhotVR, Wilson's Heart, Fantastic Contraption.

I was surprised that this was free, showing as £22.99 now for me too, perhaps it was on offer for a limited time

Yup an error on my part. It was just a limited time trial it appears. It's decent but not good enough to buy on Oculus home in my opinion.

Do previous owners not get any of these? That makes me more than a little annoyed. I got Lucky's tale and that's it

With the exception of the ones bundles with touch controllers, the rest are free to everyone

I've bought the £399 bundle but only got Lucky's Tale it seems - eg RoboRecal shows as £22 in Oculus store. Whom do I need to contact to redeem this?

I logged out of oculus app and went back in. Check your "not installed" section of your library in Oculus Home.

Just tried logging out and still only Lucky's tale in the not installed games. (I think I got it -its probably because I've only installed the headset, not the touch controllers. I'll do that on Friday when I receive my USB3 card - dont have enough ports atm)

Yes you need to have the touch controllers installed for quite a number of the games to turn 'free'
