Free Water Saving Devices

Saving water isn't only for times of drought; we cannot afford to waste this precious resource at any time. To help save water many companies in the UK offer free devices to be placed in your toilet cistern, meaning that you use less water every time you flush. If you local water company does not offer such a device it is possible to put a brick or large pebble in your cistern to acheive the same effect. Be careful that anything which you put in the cistern does not affect its working.

There are about ten places where you can get FREE Water saving devices, mainly for different areas of the country

Posted this awhile ago and I'm still waiting for my water company to send me a hippo.
Going to try again though.

Why not simply put a brick or a full 500ml bottle of water in your cistern if you're concerned about the environment and save water companies sending people out to fit in a 'hippo'.

It all does the same thing.

I did receive one. It was only a plastic bag that you filled up with water. Just fill a large sanwich bacg with water and hang it in the cistern away from the handle.

Oh I didn't like it at all. It's screwed my loo and almost prevented it from flashing. Never again!

How anyone could vote a freebie cold i'll never know
To be quite honest, it takes the urine to even criticise it. Voted hot for the free shower meter.

I considered myself extremely eco friendly till now, never thought of putting something in the cistern to reduce the amount of water used.

Thanks for the info!
