]Forgot to mention - NO ADVERTS! Got two sites running on this, stable...

Don't know where the catch is, suppose you'll use their premium service if 10GB /300MB isn't enough!
#2
Major problem is you don't know when they left you hanging around :(

What do you mean? It's only as guaranteed as any other service - seems perfectly reliable to me and direct PHPMyAdmin/ MySQL management...

Gotta be hot for any geek :P

I can only get to a URL redirection service. Where is the actual webhosting?

just what i needed :D

http://www.freezoka.com/signup.php

Once you sign up you instantly (no waiting for email confirmations) get access to you control panel. There's a browser FTP client there. Your username will be something awkward like freezoka_123442 on ftp.freezoka.com - that uploads to the subdomain you specify in the signup...

Excellent! (hmmm... was that sarcasm?)

Hi,

I'm not sure how good hosting is with the op's recommendation, however I have carried out quite a bit of research into free hosting providers and recently I started hosting my websites:
www.gagandeeptiwana.com and www.gstenterprises (I hope links are allowed) with http://x10hosting.com and I recommend them.

I've only been with them for a couple of weeks but I'm pretty impressed to date.

Custom account panel.
Able to place own ads.
Up to 10 GB of bandwidth!
No advertisements!

Any comments on reliability? :)
#10
They seem pretty reliable to me... excellent service for free!

If you want a 'homepage' then facebook is as good as any - small business website and can't beat this sort of thing for a powerful solution...

Running a database behind a website is fun :)

I would classify this thread as SPAM!

I've setup websites for a friend and my dad - they run small businesses... it's a good way to see if a website will help the business or not before laying out any cash...

They won't use close to 10GB! - I've been setting up galleries and shifting files back and forward and only used 20Mb!

Why so negative? Wordpress is great - doesn't give the flexibility of your own site though...

I wish I knew what the hell you lot were talking about. :-D

not at all

I needed some extra storage for some video stuff and you tube wasn't good enough

There are quite a few hosts offering similar 'free' pckages. My advice is only use for personal use and not for anything too important.

I use a company called www.34sp.com. Cheap and very reliable. Would never trust something that is free. Prolly wont be around for long.
#20
I for one won't be taking up this free offer, sure it's free mySQL hosting but...........

no wait, it's free so why not?

That was a really unhelpful and sarcastic reply that served no purpose other than to add humor to the thread. It's posts like that ..

no wait - it was genius and i'm still laughing - post on :D

site down? Doesn't bode well.

''free web hosting with no ads'

There are quite a few things in the Terms of Service that would concern me

You also understand and agree that the Service may include advertisements and that these advertisements are necessary for Freezoka to provide the Service.

So you're agreeing that they 'might' serve adverts

Freezoka reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice.

So they currently don't serve adverts on their free hosting packages, but you've already agreed they 'may' and that they can change their policy at any time without telling you. I suspect they'll run it ad free for a while then invoke the above once they have enough customers to make a tidy sum from ad revenue.

Free domain names which are included with Paid Hosting accounts are the property of Freezoka Internet. Freezoka will always retain ownership of free domain names we register.

Now THAT is worrying. I'd rather pay £4 (cheapest 2 year .co.uk registration I could find with a 5min search) and own the domain than have it owned by a company who I've agreed, via their TOS, can do whatever the hell they like with the services they provide me, including advertising. I know its unlikely but you could wake up one morning to find your entire site has been taken down and turned in to an advert packed cash machine. Not a good risk for a business to be taking.

Theres no such thing as a free lunch, theres ALWAYS a catch!

Well Said! :-D

be careful, i've been with a few free web hosting companies, alot of them disappear within a year.

basicly they work it out wrong and don't make enough revenue

if you are going to join one i would recommend going to http://www.freewebspace.net/ and finding a company thats offering free web hosting and have been around for at least 2 years!

you can also get paid hosting for very cheap! i had one for £10 a year with someting like a 1 gig of space 25 gig of bandwidth. php etc.
#26
I get adverts when I log into the control panel, then there's another big advert saying "Upgrade to advert free for $2.99 a month. I know this is only £1.50, but hey..
#27
there are some genuine free webhosts out there, you just have to find them. some buy and pay for a server out of there good hearts (usually if they've made a lot of money from web hosting or websites) but they offer little space and bandwidth to fit more peope on the server. but to be honest, most starting stites don't need more than 100megs and about 2 gigs bandwidth, when you get better you can start to pay for basic hosting
#28
Think internet hosting (like domain registration) is a bit of a minefield. There are a lot of companies competing and this was one that I've tried and seems to work well so I was hoping it might help out someone else. I'm not suggesting that free hosting is the best way, just, if you're thinking of trying a website, need somewhere to dump work, trying out a new database or code... this is FREE...

When you know you need a site or guaranteed space then move over to a basic hosting package... always!
#29
Also, there standard package is on £18 a year and that includes a .COM domain...

Excellent value AFAIC

seems good thx

Paid hosting is obviously better, but for smaller websites there's nothing wrong with free hosting as long as you research into it. I used the following two websites and tried out 3 different free hosting providers before deciding on x10 hosting:

Looks like a nice place to test out ideas and see what works, but after bitter experience with other similar deals I'd never host anything important here. Not having any problems with something for a couple of weeks isn't really an indicator of long-term reliability.
Make very regular backups of your databases because you'll have no way of recovering them if the host just vanishes or throws you off the server for some obscure infraction of Terms and Conditions. You don't learn that lesson until it's five minutes too late.
#33
oooooooooooooooh!I love this....good one...

Exactly you get what you pay for...

There are some resonable Free/Cheap hosts out there but there are a lot of bad ones as well.
Do your research before commiting to anything.

I won't give any reccomendations becuase Im not in a posisition to give an unbiased opinion.
