form their forum:

People get charged because they "forget" to deactivate paid subscription and / or services (offered free initially) before the trial period ends.

Charge / billing details are available to see on the FreedomPop website. All one needs to do is login and check!

:/

If you want "free" FreedomPop after the trial period, make sure you do all the following before the trial / subscription ends:
1. Downgrade to Basic 200 Plan.
2. Deactivate FreedomPop Premier.
3. Deactivate International Plan (if you have bought any).
4. Deactivate any other paid service you have subscribed to.
5. Disable "auto top-up" in billing services.

You should thus be set for "free" FreedomPop.

But looks like you have to pay for the sim unless someone can show me how

so when i clicked on 'continue with offer' it meant that I am getting a sim card. why does the website not say 'your sim is on its way' or 'order placeed' or something similar...kept trying to order sim and will probably got multiple sims coming to me now.

Thanks for posting wanted something for kids that didn't cost me anything so will try, unless they want my credit card details to activate.

Sorry, stone cold for me - anything to do with FreedomPOP is cold because it just doesn't work very well...

Does this free whatsapp work on the 200m 200sms 200mb sims if you already have one

Yes I tried this and couldn't receive calls. When I made them, the other person could hear me for about 5 seconds, then it dropped. Really useless.

Unfortunately Freedompop just haven't sorted their model out very well. Coverage in the UK is far too patchy to be useful.

In LA, they actually had tents out on the pavement where they give away basic phones with a Freedompop plan to the homeless for free; the idea being that at least it could be used for text as it wasn't much good for anything else!
#17
Hi I think this relates to Freedompop in the USA as their web address http://www.freedompop.com/?experience=whatsapp.default

where as the Uk site is: https://uk.freedompop.com/uk?experience=organic.default#.
As a current Freedompop user it always asks for a credit card so it can charge you if you forget to cancel services and also
charge any overage costs.
Would have been good though

They're an MVNO on the Three network, depending on which survey you choose to look at, they have the best, or are a close second, coverage in the UK. Patchy seems a bit harsh.

I'm okay I train pigeons so don't need What'sApp

I have tried to validate a spare giffgaff sim without success.
#21
Just skipped the data rollover twice and required no card have I just orderd ? Was thinking about getting one but unsure
#22
I dont think this is for a free sim, only to activate the package to a freedom pop sim you have purchased out of the 3 it shows.

I had one of their SIMs for two months running alongside my 3 network. As their coverage is VOIP only on Freedompop it really was a case of hoping the internet connection was stable enough to support my call. More often than not it wasn't. I ended up binning them off and porting my number to Tello (also on 3's network and also free!)

Can't see where tello is free starts at £3.50p a month.
#25
Ah, I see they have upped it now! I used to have 20 texts and 100 minutes for free.

Still, with Tello the benefit is that it is based on actual phone use and not VOIP.

Anyone has actually received the free sim? Click on the "No thanks, continue without offer" just landed on another webpage with no indication whether a free sim has been ordered/dispatched?

Same thing

This SIM has not been launched in the UK yet. And the webpage is a dummy ...... currently designed to capture your address and email id.

There is no such deal ..... for the UK market ..... yet.
#29
Forget this FeedomPOO or you will be in trouble once you join them.

AVOID! AVOID!!!! They must be banned!!

Actually I used them for a month in the UK around 5 months ago. Binned them off though as they were terrible and had launched way before they were ready.

That sounds about right.
#32
Yeah the coverage was terrible. Unfortunately the UK isn't ready for a solely data based voip network as the infrastructure is too patchy. I'm now on Tello which requires a 3G phone but uses normal networks so is always working!

The Global SIM with free WhatsApp data was "launched" in the UK on 01-Sep-2016.
https://www.engadget.com/2016/09/01/freedompop-whatsapp-sim-uk/

And, this was launched in USA on 17-August-2016.

I can't comment on what you were using in UK 5 months ago ....... before this (free WhatsApp data SIM) was even launched anywhere in the world ... but it was not this service!!

I did not have a 'Whatsapp' Sim. I had a standard Freedompop one. It was rubbish.

I think no - it seems to be a different SIM - but once you have one, according to the Engadget article referred to earlier, you need to activate their apps and then get another 200 mins/200 texts/200MB data on top of the allowances on the SIM, so 300 mins/400 texts/400MB data?
