For PAYG bear in mind:

If you’re on Pay As You Go, you need to have used your account to make a call, send a text or use data in the last 30 days.

Seems fair and it is great Three users get free wifi now on the London Underground.

Cheers OP for the information and for posting..

Another victory for three,

Finally! Will no longer have to piggy back off my brother's Virgin account :)

Unrelated question: I am on Three's 'The One Plan 12 Month SIM Only' - joined last year well before their new tethering rules. I just wanted to know, what happens when my contract is over? Will I retain the unlimited tethering, or will it switch to the capped contract?

Yep, this is what I read as well, thanks for the confirmation. So will it simply becoming a monthly rolling contract?

What I meant to say is, I won't have to use his Virgin media account. But I understand that I am still technically using Virgin's network (_;)

Blimey, looks like being on Three isn't as bad as some people think! Been a customer for yonks, so the free wifi along with http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home seems like a result!

Hubby has just changed to 3. This will be great for him. He changed because he got a great deal (unltd mins, unltd texts and 2 gb data for £20 plus a new free phone) and loves the fact that you get free 0800 numbers included. When my contract is up next March I'll be changing to 3 too!

If you don't upgrade, or downgrade to a cheaper plan, you will be able to keep your unlimited tethering and stay on a rolling monthly deal. If you do upgrade, you will lose your unlimited tethering. Effectively you will be paying the same money as you are now, for the same allowances of minutes, texts and data, but with no new handset.

I would agree with the above, just moved to Three in the past month and just caught the One Plan with Unlimited Tethering before they stopped doing it, had been with o2 for 20 odd years and in truth now I wouldn't recommend them to my enemies. Three just seem to come up trumps in everything they do and have a few other Telcos not knowing what to do.

I know it's a good deal but not really worth going all that way for :p

There is an app for 0800 numbers so its not worth getting it via the provider they always try these tricks to think u r getting value for month

That's great I had to move back to BT as VIRGIN did not cover where I moved to. But with 3 it is good to get the free WiFi. I can use it with the kids to find out where things are when I am in London and what is on. Heat added.

what are speeds like for tablet data transfer on that? Has anyone tested it at all?

Good if hanging around in a station, shame it doesn't work in tunnels.

Feel at home is another fantastic bonus with 3..... Use your uk plan allowance abroad in a dozen countries at no extra cost! So FREE calls/texts back to uk and all your internet allowance.
For any francophiles France was also added in July 2014.
Brilliant service from 3.

I have BT internet and landline , which includes use of their free wifi hot spots through out the UK.
Can any one recommend the best/cheapest sim only payg deal that allows tethering to use BY wifi hot spots . Giff gaff seem to offer cheapest phone calls but when I read their T&Cs, it says they cut you off if you thether.

3 or Virgin media wifi on the underground is not really free , it depends what Monthly plan you are on ?

My password which I set up a couple of days ago is not showing under London Underground Wifi in My3.

Is this because they only action the passwords Mon-Sat and it takes 48 hours?

Could it be because special characters were used in the password and only a-z and 0-9 characters are allowed? I didn't get any message about a non valid password.

Thanks for your help.

giffgaff do cut you off if you tether on their unlimited goodybags. However, tethering to wifi does not count against their Ts and Cs, as you are not using your giffgaff allowances for this kind of tethering. You can tether using wifi in hotspots such as the underground, pubs, coffee shops, etc; just not using your own giffgaff sim card, with unlimited goodybag data. I hope that helps to clarify things.

You can only use digits (0-9) uppercase letters (A-Z) and lowercase letters (a-z). Special characters, such as #@*/, etc are not allowed in these passwords, so you will need to remove them from your password.

Thanks. I'll try signing in now to My3 and see if it shows the password. If not, I'll change it.

does this work for The Peoples Operator (That piggy backs on Three?)

The People's Operator runs off EE, not 3, as this link shows:

You aren't being Dim, you have to go to My3 on the web not My3 in the app.

Thanks for posting! Start a new job in next month with a 45 minute tube commute, so I've been hoping they'd do this :)
