This is in addition to the Free Wills in November. I work in a Law Firm and we're signed up to Will Aid and also this scheme from the Stroke Association where you're offered a free Will from your local Solicitor if you're over 60. You don't pay but the charity will pay the Solicitor for drafting up a Will for you - so there is every incentive for the Solicitor to draft a proper will for you! And as always mentioned - you should always go to a Solicitor and not a will writer as they will ensure that the Will is valid and your wishes enforced by Court! (And no nonsense about not catering for any residue of your Estate like a case we had recently!!)
Here are the details:
The Stroke Association is offering you the chance to make a free Will at a participating solicitor in your area.
We understand the importance of making a Will to organise your affairs and ensure that your estate benefits the individuals, organisations and charities that matter most to you. We also realise that the cost of making a Will can be high, so we have set up this Scheme whereby The Stroke Association will pay for our supporters to make a simple Will, free of charge. To ensure that the Scheme benefits those who need it most and to enable us to extend the Scheme to include more firms of Solicitors in more locations, the Free Will Scheme has now been restricted to particpants over the age of 60. However, places are still limited so please do not delay.http://www.stroke.org.uk/donate/give_through_your_will/free_will_scheme.html
Apologies if any mistake above since am still a bit drunk from Halloween!!
