Not free as postage varies from £10 to £30, depending on the manufacturer.

The upgrade is available on pretty much all laptop brands. You only have until the end of January to order it, and with some manufacturers much less time.

and what if you was sensible (considering by that date, the world new vista was s****) and got one with XP?

Having just done this with HP it takes 3-4 weeks plus you have to either fax or mail copies of your purchase documents to germany and it costs £23

I just e-mailed my receipt when I registered for the so-called free Windows 7 from HP, didn't need to fax or post. It cost me £22, so definitely NOT free, one hell of an expensive postal service they use. :roll:

Yeah it's a shame. I never went through to order it fully. But i did just read that it was free.. but Windows 7 for £23? Please, that is still cheap - although, not free.
