"myFUNAMBOL provides free mobile email and over-the-air sync of contacts and calendars. It supports 1.5 billion phones, including the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and feature phones. It lets phones sync with desktop clients such as Outlook and get email from Yahoo!, Gmail, AOL and Hotmail as well as POP and IMAP servers. It performs over-the-air setup of many phones and includes a cloud-based address book and calendar for viewing and managing this information online."

The link will take you to the downloads section of their site where you can choose the client for your device (e.g. Iphone, Nokia, Blackberry or Windows Outlook for desktop).

The installation was very easy and everything works great for me so I hope it will for you too.

I used to use Plaxo for syncing between my home and work PC's and mobile - but now Plaxo charges for the service - Funambol is completely free.

Personally I don't bother with the email synch - just use it to synch my calendar and contacts. I'm using Windows Outlook 2002 and a 1st Gen Nokia N95 mobile and it's all running sweetly!

Moybiko and some other companies offer contacts synch or calendar synch - but this is the first one I've found to offer everything for free!

NB the documentation says that some of the clients maybe ad based - so do watch out.
However my experience so far has been very smooth and not one ad of any kind.

Heat from me. Activesync keeps duplicating my contacts in my phone and it is driving me mad so will give this a shot.

Been using a 3rd party app for my SE C905, but if this does all models it'll save having a Sony app, a Nokia app and a Samsung app installed!

More heat!

Started using Vufone when it was still in beta but has now moved to a paid version though they have given beta testers free subscription till sometime next year. Dashwire is available for windows and is trialling an S60 version, so worth keeping an eye on it.
I look forward to trying funambol. What I really hope for is complete sync of messages, pic and contacts, as was the case with vufone. Will try it out.

I don't see an Android version?

I have a new HTC Hero, which syncs with Google Calendar. I have Google Calendar Sync on my PC, which syncs Outlook to Google Cal. This gives me both Outlook and Google Cal events on my phone, so I get things twice :(

Will this program help?

Why complicate everyting by installing third party soft which consumes extra data if you can use free Google calendar Sync utility to sync my Google or Gmail Calendar with your Outlook calendar and sync your Outlook calendar with your mobile one via say with Active Sync for Win Mobile or other soft for other mobiles?

In an ideal world that would be better. But, Google's calendar Sync utility only works with Outlook 2003 or later. I use 2002 at home and work and I know many many others are still using Outlook 2002.

Another thing, I use a Nokia n95 1st gen (yes yes I know I've been due an upgrade for ages).
Anyway, my calendar and contacts database became corrupted (probably my own fault).
So, it doesn't synch properly with my PCs now.

Funambol solved all these problems by syncing my calendar, notes and contacts easily.

Might not need it for my next phone
