This looks like a poor wrapper around an old version of the ffmpeg command line tool (actually, the ffmpeg and libavcodec dlls).

You'd be better off with HandBreak, it's Open source (so no cost to you), cross platform (Windows, Mac OSX and Linux), it has many more features (including more codecs!), it has a better UI and batch management.

Yes, yes and yes. I'd also highly recommend Handbrake, the "nightly builds" in particular

Same company, same rubbish. A mish mash of other people's DLLs, some poorly configured preset parameters for ffmpeg/libavcodec, in addidtion to, of all things Windows Media converter codecs! Fugly stuff.
