I'm diabetic and wear one of these :

http://www.alertid.co.uk/people/diabetes-alert.php

Much better I think as should you fall ill/unconscious the emergency services can contact your next of kin or whoever you set up as your emergency contact. Yes, not as cheap but far better i think.

Surely the emergency services are more likely to have done bloods and a 3 second diabetes test prior to contacting next of kin?! They're not morons.

These necklaces are for those murderers at St John's Ambulance who haven't got a bloody clue about anything except recovery positions.

I'm quite uncomfortable with the opinion that the emergency services scour a body for trinkets and wallets prior to treatment. Have you all got so little faith?

Great post but please don't order one unless you need it.

Good little freebie, I use the ICE mobile system, I did use one of the 'medical alert' systems but it was expensive and the jewlery 'cheap'. So now I just use the ICE in my mobile and carry a small piece if card with my medical conditions in my wallet!

Hi there,

I'm from the charity, thanks for all of the phone calls.

But please instead of calling or emailing because we've been overwhelmed by offers, please send us a C5 sized envelope, self-addressed and stamped to the value of 51p to us. Please mark your envelope 'HUK'.

You will appreciate that although the leaflets and necklaces are free, we are spending a lot of charity money on postage.

Many thanks,

Anne-Marie Causer
