With the Easter Hols coming I thought I would add this as not seen it mentioned anywhere else.

If you visit an RSPB centre that has a reception desk you can leave your car keys as a deposit and the kids get free use of the Wildlife Explorer Backpacks. In the back packs there are pens, pencils, track, bird and wildlife spotting cards, binoculars, magnifying glasses and bug jars. Choose the 'family centres' and you'll find your nearest:

It is a great day out and totally free. There are usually loads of things to see and people do not ind if the kids are running around - they just ask they are kept quiet in the hides.

They also do lots of free days at the weekend. Well worth a visit and they are open all year round. Just take wellies if going when it is wet.

If you click the link you should be able to go to 'Reserves' on the top banner and choose from location. There is one called 'The Lodge' in Beds - it is their head office: Hope that works for you. If not go to the RSPB website and choose from the top banner.

These are great places and at this time of year you'll see all of the water wildlife such as frogs, tadpoles, newts as well. And some of them are open at nights so you can go and watch the owls. I am not an absessed birdwatcher but sometimes it is nice to get some time out away from the hustle and bustle of theme parks and the beach to go watch the birds or do some pond dipping. We saw our first Kindfishers last year and they were catching fish - amazing.
Looks great!! Thank you!
thanks voted hot.
